The American Express Business Platinum Card offers a $200 Hilton credit per calendar year. You can also receive up to a $50 credit each quarter to use on eligible Hilton purchases.
- Q1: January, February, and March
- Q2: April, May, and June
- Q3: July, August, and September
- Q4: October, November, and December
The Hilton credit benefit for the American Express Business Platinum Card is great because it certainly helps with the card’s high annual fee. Therefore, here are some ways to enroll in the offer and maximize the credit each quarter.
Enrolling Amex Business Platinum Hilton Credit
You can enroll in your American Express Business Platinum Card to take advantage of the annual $200 Hilton Statement Credit online. Doing so will also automatically enroll you into the free Hilton for Business program membership.
- Go to the official American Express website and log into your account.
- Select the American Express Business Platinum Card.
- Click on the Rewards and Benefits on the top.
- Scroll down until you see the Card Benefits section. In case you do not see the $200 Hilton Statement Credit, click on the View All Card Benefits link.
- From there, click on the $200 Hilton Statement Credit and follow the prompt to enroll in the offer.
- You will receive a couple of emails regarding the enrollment in the Hilton statement credit and the Hilton for Business program.
The Amex Business Platinum $200 Hilton Statement Credit enrollment is a one-time only as long as you remain a member of the same card. In other words, you do not need to enroll in the benefit each year.
Maximizing Amex Business Platinum Hilton Credit
The American Express Business Platinum Card has a high annual fee but offers several statement credits, which can help offset the fee. If you enjoy traveling, you should use and maximize the card’s Hilton statement credit benefit each quarter.
Use the Hilton Credit at Hilton Properties
The most obvious method to use up the $50 Hilton credit each quarter is to spend at Hilton properties. The expenses include room rates, spa, dining, and any incidental charges you may incur during your stay. To use the credit, you make sure to use your American Express Business Platinum Card to settle the final bill at the end. Therefore, make sure you charge all your Hilton stay expenses to your room folio, and American Express will issue the statement credit accordingly.
Use the Credit to Purchase Hilton Gift Cards
The $50 Hilton credit per quarter is an unofficial method. The miles and points community has shown that using the quarterly credit on the American Express Hilton Honors Surpass Card to buy a Hilton gift card online triggers the Amex statement credit. Therefore, the concept is the same. You can use the credit to purchase a Hilton gift card online to earn the Amex Hilton statement credit for your American Express Business Platinum Card. However, please note that there’s an extra $1.95 USPS fee to ship the physical Hilton gift card to you.
Moreover, suppose you can find a Hilton property that sells gift cards and use your American Express Business Platinum Card to pay in person. In that case, you would also qualify for the statement credit.
How to Use the Hilton Gift Card at a Hilton Property?
Use the Credit to Purchase Gift Certificates and Vouchers
Suppose you can find a Hilton property that sells gift certificates and vouchers for accommodation, spa, and dining. In that case, you may be able to use the quarterly $50 credit on the American Express Business Platinum Card as well. The downside of this approach is that you can only use the gift certificate at that specific Hilton property.
You can generally find an on-site spa treatment facility at a Hilton hotel and resort that may sell spa gift certificates, for example. Some Hilton properties may also offer online purchases. For instance, the Hilton Surfers Paradise in Australia sells gift vouchers online. But as a rule of thumb, always test out with a small amount first for online transactions.
Interestingly, the Hilton Surfers Paradise Hotel and Residences property is also on the resort’s list, which means it qualifies for the Amex Hilton Aspire $400 Resort Credit, too, if it works.

Use the Credit to Make an Advance Deposit
Certain Hilton hotels and resorts also allow you to make an advance deposit for future stays. You can request the hotel to charge your American Express Business Platinum Card with a specified amount during the quarterly credit’s validity. That deposit becomes a credit towards your stay’s folio and you can settle the balance at check-out. You must contact the Hilton property to make such a request.
The advance deposit is refundable. Therefore, if you cancel your reservation, the hotel will refund the amount back to your American Express Business Platinum Card. However, Amex may claw back the quarterly Hilton credit.
Use the Credit for the Reservation Deposit
Unlike the advance deposit I mentioned above, certain Hilton hotels require a deposit at the time of booking for a future stay. This deposit allows you to utilize the $50 Hiton credit immediately during its quarterly validity period.
You may find a handful of Hilton properties in Las Vegas require such a deposit. For instance, look at the following fine print:
This reservation requires a credit card deposit of $278.80 USD which will be charged to your card. If you wish to cancel, please do so 5 days prior to arrival to avoid cancellation penalties.
Use the Credit to Pay for Hilton Timeshare Fees
Based on data points from the timeshare owners at the miles and points community, you can also use the quarterly $50 Hilton credit to pay for the Hilton Grand Vacations (timeshare) maintenance fees.
Here’s one data point:
January 1: Used my Biz Plat and made a $50 payment toward HGV maintenance fees.
January 3: Received email from Amex saying I used my quarterly credit.
January 4: $50 statement credit posted.
Use the Credit to Spend at a Restaurant or Bar Inside a Hilton Property
This method is a bit tricky if you want to use the credit to spend on dining at a Hilton hotel without staying at the property. It is all about trial and error.

You can not use the Use the $200 Credit to Purchase Hilton Honors Points. Hilton Points are sold by Points.com not Hilton. It would be a good idea to correct this article.
