Radisson Credit Card’s 40,000 Annual Renewal Bonus Terms

According to the terms and conditions of the Radisson’s credit card, it states the following:

Annual Renewal Bonus: This bonus is earned each year when the annual fee is billed to your account, and when you renew your account by making at least the minimum amount due by the payment due date on the statement on which the annual fee is billed. The bonus is not earned if the annual fee is waived. Please allow 6 to 8 weeks after the payment due date for your Renewal Bonus to appear in your Radisson Rewards account

When Does 40,000 Bonus Anniversary Points Post to Your Account?

As you learn from the terms and conditions above, it does take time to receive your Radisson Rewards credit card’s 40,000 anniversary bonus points. Pay
attention to the date that when the annual fee hits your credit card’s account. Once the annual fee is posted, you have to wait around two (2) months for the annual bonus points to be credited to your Radisson Rewards’ account.

The timeline for my Radisson Rewards Premier Credit Card looks
    something like this:

    • 05/01 – $75 Annual fee hit my credit card’s account.
    • Around 07/01 – The annual 40,000 bonus points got deposited into my Radisson’s account – 2 months period.

My Radisson Rewards Business Credit Card has the same timeline:
    • 09/01 – $60 Annual fee hits my business Radisson credit card’s account.
    • 11/01 – The annual 40,000 bonus points got deposited into my Radisson’s account – 2 months period.

I picked the first of each month just for a simple example, your date may be different. But
whatever your annual fee’s post date is, factor in around extra time for approximately about two (2) months before you can receive the 40,000 anniversary bonus points.

Can You Keep 40,000 Anniversary Bonus Radisson Points If You Close Radisson Rewards Credit Card?

If you decide to keep your Radisson Rewards credit card open, you will pay the
annual fee and receive the 40,000 annual renewal bonus. It’s just inconvenient that
you have to wait for 2 months to get those points and use them. So plan
    your travel accordingly.

For those that do not wish to keep the card – U.S. Bank, the Radisson credit card’s issuer, has a rule that
you have 30 days after the annual fee is posted to cancel the card and request a
    full annual fee refund.

However, the 40,000 anniversary bonus points take up to 60
days (2 months) after the annual fee is posted to be issued. Therefore, if you cancel the card within 30
days of the annual fee posted to avoid paying for the fee, you will
NOT receive the renewal 40,000 bonus points.
Moreover, the benefit term also clearly states that: The bonus is not earned if the annual fee is waived. In other words, if you successfully get the annual fee waived as part of your retention offer, you also will not receive the renewal 40,000 bonus points.

Can You Request Partial Annual Fee Refund After Receiving Annual Renewal Bonus Points?

While U.S. Bank allows you to request a full annual fee refund within 30 days of the annual fee posted to your card’s account, it does not refund partial annual fee if you pay the fee, receive the 40,000 renewal bonus points, then wish to cancel the card two months later.

    Conclusion

Receiving Radisson credit card’s 40,000 annual renewal bonus takes two (2) months after the card’s
annual fee is posted, and you can only get a full annual fee refunded if you
cancel the card within 30 days of the date that the annual fee is posted.
Therefore, unfortunately you will not be able to cancel your Radisson Rewards credit card and still keep the 40,000 anniversary bonus points.

Should you decide to not keep the card, it’s worth calling up U.S. Bank for retention offer to see if they can offer you any Radisson points bonus. It
does not hurt to ask! I had successful retention emails in the past and you can read all about it here

Keep in mind also, the Radisson Rewards Premier Credit Card only prohibits you from getting another sign-up bonus again if you have another personal Radisson Rewards credit card product or a personal Radisson Rewards credit card within the last 12 months
