Although it can be frustrating to use a hotel gift card, as the front desk clerk may not know how to process the transaction, the Hilton gift card is like a credit card, and you can use it quite easily during your stay at a Hilton property. I’ll show you how.

Let me explain the features of the Hilton gift card first.
- Amex issues the Hitlon gift cards.
- The Hilton gift card is like an Amex credit card that at the front of the card contains the following numbers:
- Fifteen-digit card numbers.
- Expiration date.
- A four-digit security code.
- You can use Amex Hilton gift cards for eligible Hilton purchases only, including also buying Hilton Honors points (see more below).

How to Use the Hilton Gift Card?
Below are a couple of ways to use the Htilon gift cards.
Use the Gift Card at a Hilton Property
During your stay or check out of a Hilton hotel or resort, you can ask the front desk to run the gift card as a credit card against your stay’s folio balance. As I mentioned above, the Hilton gift card feature is the same as an American Express credit card, except that you can only use it for eligible Hilton purchases.
Add and Use the Gift Card for Apple Pay or Samsung Pay
You can add Hilton gift cards to the mobile payment such as Apple Pay or Samsung Pay. Some Hilton properties accept those types of payments. More importantly, it also allows you to have them available with you at all times should you need to use a Hilton gift card for a last-minute stay or forget one at home.

- You can also call 1-888-846-4308 and follow the prompts to check the balance.

Amex Card Statement Credits for Hilton Gift Cards
There are annual fee Amex cards that offer a Hilton statement credit for Hilton stays; however, the miles and points community has successfully used the card to purchase Hilton gift cards online, and that also triggers the Amex statement credit.
- American Express Hilton Honors Surpass Card offers up to a $200 Hilton Statement Credit per calendar year ($50 credit per quarter).
- American Express Business Platinum Card offers up to a $200 Hilton Statement Credit per calendar year (quarterly $50 Hilton credit).
- Also, the American Express Hilton Honors Business Card offers up to a $240 Hilton Statement Credit per calendar year ($60 quarterly Hilton credit).
- Finally, the American Express Hilton Aspire Card offers up to a $400 Hilton Resort Statement Credit per calendar year ($200 credit every six months). However, you must buy the Hilton gift card in person at an eligible Hilton resort. An online Hilton gift card purchase will not be eligible.

Hilton Points are sold by Points.con, not Hilton. You can not use a Hilton Gift Card to buy Hilton Points.
