American Express issues Hilton Honor credit cards, which occasionally come with huge welcome bonus points that include a free night reward certificate offer. This free night certificate can be particularly valuable, especially since Hiltonโ€™s removal of the award chart has led to significantly high redemption rates for hotels and resorts. However, the free night certificate remains valid as long as a standard reward room is available for booking.

How many Hilton credit cards are there?

Hilton has four (4) credit cards by American Express:

What is the best Hilton card offer?

โ€œBestโ€ is a subjective term. Some may view receiving all points as an excellent welcome offer since the points donโ€™t quickly expire. However, I believe that getting points along with a free night reward certificate is a much better offer, especially for a zero annual fee Hilton credit card.

Here is the order of my picks for the best sign-up bonus offer for each Hilton credit card:

Do Hilton cards have family language?

American Express does not include Hilton family cards in the offerโ€™s term language. For example, if you have the American Express Hilton Honors Aspire Card, you can definitely obtain the American Express Hilton Honors Surpass Card, and so on. However, if you currently have the American Express Hilton Honors Aspire Card, you cannot get another Aspire card. See below.

Do Amex Hilton cards have lifetime language?

The American Express cardโ€™s welcome offer term generally includes lifetime language. This rule applies to all the Hilton credit cards as well. Youโ€™ll see the offerโ€™s term states the following:

You may not be eligible to receive a welcome offer if you have or have had this Card.

Can you have multiple Amex credit cards?

Yes, Amex allows you to have a maximum of five (5) Amex credit cards, including both personal and business credit cards. However, this limit does not include charge cards like the Platinum and Gold cards.

This rule applies also to the Hilton credit cards.

Does Amex hard pull credit for existing customers?

Amex typically does not perform a hard credit inquiry if you have been a customer for some time. However, they will definitely check your credit if you are a new customer.

Do Hilton cards count towards Chase 5/24?

All personal Hilton credit cards will count against the Chase 5/24 Rule, with the exception of the American Express Hilton Honors Business Card, as Amex does not report business credit cards to personal consumer credit report.

Which Hilton credit card is best?

It really depends on your stay experiences with Hilton Hotels and Resorts. However, I would go for the Hilton card that includes a free night offer as part of the sign-up bonus.

  • If youโ€™re new to Hilton credit cards, I suggest the Hiltonโ€™s no-annual-fee card. Youโ€™ll receive a generous welcome bonus and a complimentary night to kick things off.
  • The Aspire card might be a better fit for frequent stays at Hilton hotels and resorts. Although the Aspire card has an expensive annual fee, its benefits, including statement credits and top-tier Diamond status, more than compensate for the cost.
  • The Hilton Surpass and Business cards are great alternatives, featuring lower annual fees. They provide a middle ground between the Hiltonโ€™s no-annual-fee card and the premium Hilton Aspire card. However, the Surpass card has a slight advantage due to its welcome offer, which includes a free night certificate and the opportunity to earn another Hiltonโ€™s free night reward after meeting a specific spending threshold each calendar year. Both cards, however, provide complimentary Gold status, which provides benefits such as complimentary breakfast while staying at Hilton hotels and resorts outside the U.S.

Does Hilton free night reward expire?

Yes, Hilton free night rewards typically expire within 12 months of issuance. However, there are many fantastic Hilton hotels and resorts where you can redeem the free night reward, provided that a standard room reward is available for booking.
