Doha Hamad (DOH) to Seattle (SEA)
DEP 7:55AM ARR 12:30AM (Same Day)
Duration: 14h35m
Seat Numbers: 11E & 11F QSuites
Aircraft: Boeing 777-300ER
Miles Redeemed: 90,000 Qatar Airways Privilege Club Avios + ~306 Euro Taxes & Fees per person.
Please note that the high Avios and fees are because I redeemed from Frankfurt to the USA, route through Hamad International Airport (DOH) on one reservation.
I have always been wanting to experience Qatar Airways QSuites since their debut. The two middle seats can be turned into a double bed intrigued me as I had such a pleasant experience with Singapore Airlines’ old Airbus 380 First Class that had a similar “double bed” experience in the sky.
PROS: Comfortable seats with doors, double bed for certain middle seats, tasty food and drinks with a dine-on-demand approach, tons of entertainment, TV shows and movies, free Wi-Fi for Qatar Airways Privilege Club members, or only $10 for the entire trip.
CONS: Service fell below expectation, slow service, especially on my companion’s side, too close to premium economy cabin with a baby onboard.
Qatar Airways Business Class passengers at Doha Airport (DOH) can access the Mourjan Business Lounge. There are two lounges: one on the south side and one on the north side called The Garden. I decided to check out the new one, which was huge and gorgeous. Here’s the full review:
The boarding group for Qatar Airways Business Class passengers is Zone 1, along with passengers with special needs and those that travel with small children.
Because this was a U.S.-bound flight, we had to undergo security at the gate before continuing to the boarding waiting area. My luck had it my boarding pass had SSSS, so I was selected for a random check during the security. But it was nothing too concerning and fairly quick, especially when business class passengers also have a priority lane at the security. The agent simply opened my suitcase and looked around.

Seats and Cabin
Qatar Airways QSuites
The Boeing 777-300ER is a large bird with a large Business Class cabin across eleven (11) rows. I chose the last two, 11E and 11F, to avoid the Qatar Airways Quad (4 seats) setup configuration.
Qatar Airways Business Class cabin on the Boeing triple sevens is divided with froth and back cabin.
Each business class seat is arranged forward and rearward facing.
All the middle seats, “couple seats,” are rearward facing.

The 11E and 11F seats are located in the back business class cabin, so these are noticeable:
Footsteps from economy passengers during boarding
Subject to noises from the premium economy, especially baby crying
Receive slower service as they are the last row
Indeed, we experienced three things mentioned above when seated in 11E and 11F QSuites. Do not get me wrong, they are still nice comfortable QSuites, but if you do not like sitting and sleeping with noise-canceling headphones on, you may be bothered by the baby crying noise from the premium economy cabin, if any. Therefore, I recommend choosing the seats in the front cabin if you can. If only 11E and 11F are the only options, then go for them if you want to enjoy the double bed experience in the sky. I selected those seats because they face the wall at the end of the Business Class cabin.
Each QSuite comes with a door, and a do not disturb sign that you control on the seat controller, as DND stands for Do Not Disturb.

Do you get motion sickness for rearward seating?
Certain QSuites and the middle seats that turn into double beds are rear-ward facing. When I ride a boat or in a motion vehicle, I cannot sit rearward because I’m more prone to motion sickness, but with Qatar Airways QSuites rearward seating, I did not feel a thing. In fact, I hardly notice anything between whether forward or rearward seating.
Drinks and Food
Welcome Drinks & Nuts
Drinks and food are offered as “dine on demand” with Qatar Airways Business Class. In other words, you decide what and when you want to eat. The flight attendant will go around and take the order, and you just need to tell them what you want to eat and when you are ready to eat, just let them know.

The flight is a morning flight, so I decided to do breakfast after taking off, and light meal option during the flight, and then a lunch/dinner a few hours before approaching Seattle.
The breakfast I picked:
Mango yogurt
Thai chicken khao soi with egg noodles (this dish is on the light options menu, but I decided to enjoy it as my breakfast)
It also comes with assorted bread and jam
Mango Yogurt
Thai Chicken Khao Soi Egg Noodles
Light Option:
I wanted the Laksa, but unfortunately, it was not available. So I went with the chicken burger instead, and it was tasty!

For lunch, I selected the following:
Broccoli miso soup
Char grilled kofta and lamb chops
Double chocolate tart with fresh strawberries and mango
Broccoli Miso Soup
Main Lamb Chops
Chocolate Dessert Tart
Lie-Flat Bed
Qatar Airways QSuites Double Bed
The “double bed seats” has a divider that can be put up during boarding, but it can be completely pressed down so that you and your companion can sit close to one another without a barrier. You must press really hard on it for it to go down or ask the flight attendant for assistance. They have a tool that works with the hole on the divider to control it, that’s easier than a hard manual press.

This Hole Controls the Divider
Then when the seats are turning into a lie-flat position, they look like a double bed but don’t expect a real double bed experience where you can snuggle or cuddle with your partners. You are still going to feel the middle section where the divider is, and the closed doors are also not fully high enough because anyone that walks by your suite will be able to see what’s going on inside it 😉

Moreover, Qatar Airways also offers bedding pads and pillowcases in QSuites. Flight attendants will go around and set them up for you.

The lie-flat bed is very comfortable, and I was able to get a few hours of sleep.

Crew Service
I heard great things about crew service on Qatar Airways inflight, which I witnessed on my flight from Frankfurt to Doha. Unfortunately, the crew service on this flight fell shorter than my expectations. I assume the service was slow because we sat in the last row, especially since the service received on my travel companion’s side was much slower than mine. A lot of inconsistencies in services on this flight and a lot of waiting around.
Wi-Fi
Qatar Airways is generous when it comes to Wi-Fi on board:
Complimentary onboard Wi-Fi for Qatar Airways Privilege Club members.
Full flight onboard Wi-Fi for only $10 for non-members.
Onboard Wi-Fi
Amenities
Qatar Airways crew provides the pajamas once seated.
Two pillows and a roll-up blanket are also provided inside the suite.
Bedding pads and pillowcases can be requested, and flight attendants will go around and set them up for you.
The amenity kit includes an eye mask, socks, lotions, and creams.
