Hyatt and MGM Resorts International’s partnership ends on September 30, 2023. Now, a piece of developing news indicates that Marriott International will partner with MGM Resorts International, and the partnership is scheduled to launch in October 2023. As stated, this is developing news, so it’s unclear how the reciprocal elite status and benefits, including status matching, work until the partnership is fully launched.
I’ll update the post once I learn more about the partnership, but this is what we know.

Marriott International and MGM Resorts International Partnership
This is what we know so far about the partnership between Marriott International and MGM Resorts International:
- This is an exclusive partnership agreement, meaning Marriott International does not acquire MGM Resorts International and vice versa.
- The partnership is scheduled to launch officially in October 2023.
- The partnership will create an MGM Collection to join the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio.
- Members of both programs can link accounts, book, earn and redeem points for stays at all MGM and Marriott Bonvoy properties, including earning credit card points.
- Members of both programs will enjoy elite benefits for stays at all MGM and Marriott Bonvoy properties.
- Marriott Bonvoy members can earn points on certain BetMGM transactions on the BetMGM Platform, and BetMGM Rewards members can convert BetMGM Rewards points to Marriott Bonvoy points.

MGM Collection & Participating MGM Resorts
The partnership of Marirott and MGM will create an MGM Collection. The MGM Collection is another term for MGM Resorts destinations joining the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio.

Earning Marriott Bonvoy Points at MGM
When the partnership becomes available in October 2023, MGM Resorts will join Marriott Bonvoy under the MGM Collection. In addition, Marriott Bonvoy members can link accounts with MGM Rewards. This enables Marriott members to earn points for stays at all MGM and worldwide Marriott properties.
Moreover, the partnership will also allow Marriott Bonvoy members:
- Earn Marriott Bonvoy points on certain BetMGM transactions, such as gambling, games, experiences, and offers on the BetMGM Platform.
- BetMGM Rewards members can exchange BetMGM Rewards points for Marriott Bonvoy points.
Redeeming Marriott Bonvoy Points at MGM
When the partnership becomes available in October 2023, MGM Resorts will join Marriott Bonvoy under the MGM Collection. The MGM Collection properties will be available for booking on Marriott’s booking platform, and therefore, Marriott Bonvoy members can redeem Marriott Bonvoy points for stays at all MGM Collection properties. The redemption functionality will be similar to how members redeem points for stays at Marriott properties.
Earning Marriott Elite Nights For MGM Stays
Marriott has NOT announced how to earn elite nights when a Marriott Bonvoy member stays at a participating MGM Resort. This will become more clear closer to the official launch in October 2023.
Earning Marriott Bonvoy Points With Credit Card Spend at MGM
It’s unclear about the earning rates when you use a Marriott Bonvoy credit card to spend at MGM. However, Marriott stated, “Marriott Bonvoy cardmembers will receive benefits, including increased earn on card spend, at MGM Resorts destinations that become participating properties within the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio.”
Receiving Reciprocal Elite Status Benefits
This is developing news, and Marriott stated that they will provide more information about these reciprocal benefits closer to the official launch in October 2023.
Status Matching Marriott & MGM
It’s unclear whether Marriott and MGM offer status match requests when members of both programs can link accounts in October 2023. If offered, this opens up opportunities to earn MGM Gold which waives resort fees for MGM stays and more for Marriot Bonvoy elite members. Similarly, MGM Rewards elite members can match elite status to Marriott elite status level for bonus points and on-property elite benefits when staying at Marriott Bonvoy properties.
