A Single Benefit I love About the Chase Ritz-Carlton Visa Infinite Credit Card: Unlimited $100 Airfare Companion Discount

The Ritz-Carlton Rewards Credit Card that was discontinued and issued by Chase has a hefty $450 annual fee. If you enjoy traveling, the benefits of this card can outweigh the annual fee itself.

The card comes with $300 airline fees reimbursement each calendar year, Anniversary free night certificate that is good up to a 50,000 Marriott Bonvoy property and the unlimited $100 discount on the purchase of 2 to 5 qualifying round-trip, domestic coach airline tickets. 


How Does the $100 Ritz-Carlton Airfare Companion Discount Work?

  • Ritz-Carlton Rewards Credit Card holders can receive $100 discount on the purchase of 2 to 5 qualifying round-trip domestic airline tickets in economy class on the same reservation. 
  • The primary card holder’s name must be on the reservation. 
  • The $100 discount is applied to the total cost of the reservation not per ticket. 
  • The $100 discount is instantly reflected. There’s no need to submit a request for statement credit, etc. 
  • Booking can be done online and must be made with visa discount air website that’s part of the Visa Infinite’s portal, but each person will still earn frequent flyer miles, upgrade eligibility, etc. 
  • Eligible cardholders can use the discount an unlimited number of times.
  • Must use your U.S. issued Visa Infinite Card (Ritz-Carlton credit card) to pay for the full amount of your tickets. 
  • You can cancel the ticket within 24-hours of ticket purchase for a full-refund just like when you were to book directly with the airlines. 
  • If you want to modify or cancel the tickets, you must call JP Morgan Concierge at 1-877-408-5537

How to Book the Visa Infinite Companion Airfare Discount? 

Step 1: To book, you will need to go to the dedicated Visa Infinite’s website. Once there, enter your name and credit card number to verify your eligibility for the airfare discount.

Step 2: You will be presented with the flight search interface. Input your desired itinerary and click on Search Flights.

Step 3: Follow the screen to choose a desired round-trip flight. On the flight review’s page, you will see the instant $100 discount along with the total cost for the itinerary, not per ticket. See screenshot below.

Step 4: Simply follow the screen to finalize your booking. Remember:
  • You must use your U.S. issued Visa Infinite Card (Ritz-Carlton credit card) to pay for the full amount of your tickets.

Conclusion

As you can see, the Ritz-Carlton $100 airfare discount benefit does not limit how many times a cardholder can use that benefit to book airline tickets. This yields substantial savings if you frequently travel with a companion on a domestic itinerary. A spontaneous weekend getaway is very ideal for this. 
Although the annual fee on the Ritz-Carlton credit card is high $450, if you can take advantages of the $300 airline statement credits (see data point what works) and the unlimited $100 airfare discount each year, you will come out ahead of the game. If you can use the $100 airfare discount twice a year, you already save $50 by just holding the Ritz-Carlton card and enjoy its other benefits such as the automatic Marriott Bonvoy Gold elite status, the anniversary free night, etc.
