Sometimes thing happens! I forgot to take my American Express Platinum Card when we went to Minneapolis and flew out of there with Delta Air Line. Thankfully, I could still get into the lounge without paying any fees or explaining anything to the lounge attendant. Here's how.

Delta Sky Club Access With Amex Platinum Card

One benefit that both the American Express Platinum Card and American Express Business Platinum Card provide is the complimentary Delta Sky Club lounge access:
    • Complimentary access is only available to the primary cardholder, and any additional guests are required to pay the fee.
    • You must fly with Delta Air Lines to get access to the Sky Club for free.
    • It is optional to present your Amex Platinum Card. See below.

Delta Sky Club Amex Platinum Guest Fee

As mentioned above, Delta Sky Club free access is only available to the primary cardmember of the American Express Platinum Card or American Express Business Platinum Card when traveling on a same-day ticket on a Delta-operated flight.

For guests of the Amex Platinum Cardholder:
    • The primary cardholder can bring up to two (2) guests.
    • Each guest pays $39 per visit.
    • Guests are also required to be traveling on a Delta-operated flight to access the Sky Club.

How to Get Into Delta Sky Club Without A Physical Amex Platinum Card?

The official language on Delta Sky Club access states that you are required to present an eligible Amex card to enter the club lounge:

Customers with select Platinum Cards and Centurion Cards from American Express may access Delta Sky Club locations when traveling on a same-day ticket on a Delta-operated (Delta or Delta Connection) or Delta-marketed flight operated by WestJet (006 ticket number). The Platinum or Centurion Card Member must present his or her valid American Express Credit Card and same-day corresponding airline ticket to Club ambassador. Access is non-transferable and can only be used by the Card Member. Platinum and Centurion American Express Card Members may enter the club with up to two guests for an additional fee.

Amex, on the other hand, states the following:

    Delta Sky Club Easy Check-In

Add your Platinum Card to My Wallet at delta.com and create a SkyMiles account for a quicker check-in at the Delta Sky Club. Show your same day confirmed boarding pass for access.

I put this to test when I was flying out of Minneapolis airport. I forgot my American Express Platinum Card at home but based on Amex, all I had to do was add the Platinum Card to My Wallet in Delta SkyMiles account. Here's how to do that, but you must know your Platinum Card numbers for this to work. Unfortunately, it's currently impossible to view Platinum Card numbers online due to security concerns. Thankfully I had my Platinum Card front and back photos on my phone.

    • Have your Platinum Card numbers handy. If you don't have it, this will not work. However, you can check to see if you may have added the Platinum Card to your Delta SkyMiles account in the past.
    • Via Delta Mobile App:
      • Log into your Delta SkyMiles account.
      • Tap on the Account at the bottom, and then tap on My Wallet on the top.
      • Tap on Stored Payment Methods and confirm if your Amex Platinum Card is there. If not, you can tap on Add Another Payment Method to add your Platinum Card if you know its numbers.
    • Via Delta Air Lines Website:
      • Log into your Delta SkyMiles profile online.
      • Click on Payment Methods in the left-hand side menu.
      • Verify your Amex Platinum Card is there. Click on Add a New Credit or Debit Card if it's not there and you know the card numbers.
    • When you arrive at the Delta Sky Club, all you need to do is simply have the club attendant scan your Delta flight's boarding pass. The system will automatically recognize you as a Platinum cardholder and grant you access to the club with no questions asked.Â
