During our visit to Puerto Rico, we could check out the Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve Puerto Rico, which is very secluded from the San Juan area, and it is very far that it is hard to get an Uber ride from the resort. So, a stay there means that you either need to have a rental car or enjoy all the resort’s amenities, including dining.

Food and beverages at the Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve Puerto Rico can be expensive. Therefore, accessing the Regency Club Lounge at the property can really save you money.

    Regency Club Welcome Letter

Upon entering the Regency Club at the Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve Puerto Rico, the club attendant will give you a welcome letter that consists of the Club Lounge hours, amenities, and more. See below.
You will be given a special “gray” color wristband for the Club Lounge access at check-in, but the club attendant will still need to ask for your room number.
    • Access to Regency Club Lounge from 1:00pm to 7:00pm
    • Snacks throughout the day until 6:00pm
    • Complimentary coffee, tea, non-alcoholic refreshments, and water.
    • Purchase Medalla and Coors Light beers and selections of red and white wines at a reasonable cost.

    Club Lounge Seats

The decorations inside the Regency Club are charming and welcoming. There are a lot of seats inside the Club for relaxing and dining. We prefer the outdoor seating area as we enjoyed the island breeze instead of the air conditioning inside. See the photos below.

    Continental Breakfast

The Regency Club had just opened after several weeks of closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic when we were there. While they had all the abovementioned services, the continental breakfast wasn’t quite ready just yet. However, Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve Puerto Rico offered us a complimentary buffet breakfast at the on-site Water’s Edge restaurant in place of that. The buffet breakfast was terrific. It costs $29 per person, but the resort compensated the bill, including tips at check-out, which was very nice.

I quickly chat with the Regency Club attendant on what they usually serve inside the Club Lounge for continental breakfast. She said that they mainly are cold items such as cereals, yogurt, fruits, etc.

    Beers & Wines

Guests that have access to the Regency Club Lounge can enjoy complimentary coffee, tea, non-alcoholic beverages such as Coke, Sprite, Gingerale, and water.
If you would like alcoholic drinks such as beers and wines (no cocktails), there’s a piece of paper by the Regency Club Honor Bar to write down your last name, room number, and purchase(s). After that, you can simply leave the form at the Regency Club desk, and the attendant will take care of it.
The price for beers and wines at the Regency Club is very reasonable compared to drinking at the on-site swim-up bar or lounge/restaurant. We definitely took advantage of buying beers there and took them out to enjoy somewhere outside the Club Lounge.
    • Beer selections include Coors Light and Medalla (local Puerto Rico beer) – $4.00 (tax included)
    • Wine selections include white and red wines – $8.00 (tax included)
While the purchase form stated the price plus tax for each drink, the tax is included.

    Complimentary Snacks

The Regency Club Lounge at the Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve Puerto Rico offers complimentary snacks throughout the day. The snacks consist of cookies, dried fruits, honey, almonds, and various nuts. Of course, you can also enjoy complimentary coffee, tea, sodas, and water or purchase beers and wines.
We hardly had lunch there as we could save money by simply having a full brunch and then went to the Club Lounge for snacks and drinks.

    Hors d’oeuvres

    Regency Club Hors d’oeuvres
Hors d’oeuvres refers to small dishes like appetizers. During our two night stay at the Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve Puerto Rico, the Regency Club was serving the following hours d’oeuvres:
    • First night: Potstickers, eggrolls, olives, veggies, grilled zucchini, fried plantains, Pico de Gallo, and snacks
    • Second night: Fried food includes cheese fritters and beef empanada, vegetable rolls, grilled zucchini, veggies, cheese plates, and the usual snacks.

It’s worth noting that the Regency Club appears to rotate or change their evening appetizers from time to time. Although those appetizers are small items, you can definitely get full as they are served in a buffet style. So you can potentially enjoy them as your dinner. Just keep in mind, though, they only serve hors d’oeuvres for a couple hours from 4pm to 6pm. I would not wait until the last minute because they did not restock items around 5:45pm.

    Regency Club Private Pool

The Regency Club Private Pool is not located in or near the Regency Club by any means. The pool is actually situated by the rooms that exclusively have Club Access.
While the private pool is a gated entry, it is not locked. In other words, anyone can really use the pool if they want to. The Regency Club pool is a good size pool for swimming, and it is quieter than the resort’s pool. We did not really swim in the private pool as the resort’s pool is much larger and a lot nicer, in my opinion. However, if you are looking for tranquility and being away from children, you may find the Regency Club private pool more suitable.
