On my last night in Halifax, I decided to use my Marriott Free Night 35k Certificate with the Marriott Free Night Award (FNA) Top Off feature to redeem a free night’s stay at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel.
I enjoyed the most while staying at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel was the Marriott Club Lounge access available for Marriott Platinum Elite members and above. Here are the details of the room and my full review of the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel.

Location
Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel is located conveniently on the famous Halifax boardwalk and waterfront. While it’s not as central as the Muir, Autograph Collection property, the Marriott property is still ideal for staying and visiting Halifax and all the attractions that Halifax offers in downtown Halifax.
Room Upgrades
Unfortunately, I did not receive a room upgrade as a Marriott Platinum Elite member. The property was busy because there was a clinical conference at the time, and all rooms were occupied. I wondered about that when I saw the high room rate of around $400 per night for the date I wanted. Thankfully, I was able to redeem Marriott Free Night 35k Certificate with the Marriott Free Night Award (FNA) Top Off feature of 4,000 points extra. That undoubtedly made the free night certificate I received annually after paying the $95 annual fee on my Chase Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card worth a lot more because of how expensive the room was.

Room Review
As mentioned above, I did not receive a room upgrade because Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel was hosting a clinical conference. I booked two double beds for an award stay, and the room is mediocre, and the view is nothing to write home about.

The room did the job for just one night’s stay. The bed and sheets are comfortable for a good night’s sleep. If you love Marriott bedding products, you can check them out online at the Shop Marriott store.

The outside view is nothing great because it looks at construction, a highway, and just a few buildings.
This is not a luxury property compared to the Muir, Autograph Collection. The Marriott Club Lounge, however, is really the highlight of this property. More below.

The Club Lounge at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel is excellent! You order food and drinks off the menu instead of the typical buffet-style Club Lounge.
Between my travel companion and me, we could order 5 food items for free. Alcoholic beverages and desserts are chargeable, and otherwise, everything is complimentary. After dining, you sign the bill with your name and room number, and the property will comp eligible charges minus any gratuity.
Here are the Club Lounge hours:
- Morning Service: 6:30 AM to 11:30 AM
- Evening Service: 4 PM to 8:30 PM
- Monday – Friday only.
If you check out on a Saturday morning, you will be given the breakfast voucher to enjoy a complimentary breakfast at the onsite restaurant, Harbourstone Pour House. The menu inside the Club Lounge is offered from the same restaurant in smaller plate settings.

Welcome Amenity
Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel offers a couple welcome amenity choices for Marriott Platinum Elite members and above:
- 1,000 Marriott Bonvoy points
- $10 food and beverage credit.
I selected the $10 food and beverage credit and could use it towards the alcoholic beverage ordered in the Marriott Club Lounge. It’s all automatically taken care of through the hotel’s system after checking out.
Food & Beverage Credits
The only food and beverage credit offered at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel is the $10 F&B credit that is part of the welcome amenity choices for Marriott Platinum Elite members and above.
Complimentary Breakfast
As Marriott Platinum Elite and above member, you can access the Club Lounge and enjoy complimentary breakfast every morning inside the lounge. However, the Club Lounge does not open on the weekend. In that case, you receive a complimentary breakfast voucher for the onsite restaurant, Harbourstone Pour House. Your bill will be comped, except for the gratuity.
The breakfast menu inside the lounge is almost identical to the menu at the restaurant. That’s because the food is cooked in the same kitchen. However, the breakfast plate inside the lounge may be smaller than in the restaurant.

Remember, the convenient waterfront location of the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel makes it very suitable to check out other dining options outside the hotel as well. We ate at Salty’s and can recommend going for their lobster or seafood chowder.

There’s no resort fee at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel.
Parking
Onsite parking is available for 26 CAD per day.
Pet Policy
Yes, allowed. Non-refundable pet fee of 46 CAD per stay.
Housekeeping
Yes, available.
Internet/Wi-Fi
Yes – free for all guests, and you can pay for enhanced premium internet that is free for all Marriott Bonvoy elite members.
Bottled Water
Yes, in the refrigerator inside the room, complimentary.
Late Check-Out
Available for Marriott Platinum Elite and above if requested and subject to availability. I asked for a 1 PM late check-out and was quickly approved despite there was a conference that took place at the hotel.
Spa
Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel used to have spa services, but they no longer have one. The front desk let me know there’s a spa service within 5 minutes of walking from the property.
Swimming Pool
Yes, available and a whirlpool too. The swimming pool is not heated.
