The Clarion Hotel Prague City has such a low award night redemption for only 8,000 Choice Privileges points per night. While there are luxury hotels in the area, I’m all about saving money and making good use of points for free nights. Moreover, the Clarion Hotel Prague City even offers a free, delicious, full buffet breakfast every morning. The hotel is clean and comfortable, and the staff is also friendly compared to most Clarion properties in the United States.

Clarion Hotel Prague City Location

Clarion Hotel Prague City is in the new town of Prague. It’s about 30-35 minutes walk to the touristy old town. If you do not want to walk, both trams and metro are within walking distance of the property and can take you to all the tourist places, including the Prague main central station, a mere 20 minutes walk from the hotel.

I like the location of the Clarion Hotel Prague City because it’s not too far from the old town but a lot quieter than the hustles and bustles of the old town and Charles Bridge area.

Taking public transportation from the airport to Clarion Hotel Prague City can be time-consuming because it requires some changes. However, it’s doable if you want to save money. I recommend that you contact the hotel and pre-arrange a pick-up or drop-off if desired, and the hotel replies to emails quickly.

Room Upgrade

Clarion Hotel Prague City is part of the Choice Hotels rewards program, and therefore, lower your expectations for room upgrades despite your being an elite member of the program.

If there’s a specific room that you’d want, it’s best to book directly into that room. However, for an award room redemption, it’s either one double or two singles Superior room type.

Clarion Hotel Prague City Superior Room Review

The standard points room at Clarion Hotel Prague City is one double or two single beds superior room. The room is no frills, offering a clean and comfortable stay.

I found the bed and linens to be soft and comfortable, but the pillows were too soft. Therefore, I had to use the extra blanket in the closet to help boost up the pillow a little bit for my enjoyable sleeping.

The bathroom is a typical European bathroom. The bathtub is tall and has only half a shower door. When you shower, expect to have the water spray a little bit on the floor. Moreover, bath towels are small and thin.

The view from the room is facing the road. There’s nothing to write home about, but it’s insulated well from the road noise.

There’s also a room temperature thermostat on the wall that can be adjusted.

The room overall is pretty basic and adequate without sacrificing comfort. Most importantly, the room is clean. It’s definitely better than most Clarion properties in the United States.

Club Lounge

Clarion Hotel Prague City does not have a Club Lounge for elite members. However, the property has a public lounging room. The chairs are comfortable, and we hang out in that area a lot because the internet Wi-Fi speed is fast in the area as opposed to in our room (more later).

Welcome Amenity

None.

Food & Beverage Credits

There’s no food and beverage credit offered at the Clarion Hotel Prague City. The hotel only offers a daily complimentary breakfast below.

Clarion Hotel Prague City Breakfast

For only 8,000 Choice Privileges points per night in Prague, Clarion Hotel Prague City is considered one of the good uses of Choice Privileges points. But that’s not all. The redemption room also comes with a free full buffet breakfast each morning. It’s worth noting that breakfast is not included if you book the room with cash, and it costs 8 euros per person.

The buffet has plenty of options with eggs, bacon, sausages, cold cuts, cheese, breads and various seeds. Juices, tea, and espresso coffees are also available. This is one of the best buffet breakfasts for a non-luxury hotel, in my honest opinion.

The breakfast room is by the receptionist, and the breakfast staff also works very efficiently to check you in and refill the buffet items. You must give the room number to the breakfast staff at check-in before being seated.

Clarion Hotel Prague City Dining

Clarion Hotel Prague City does not have an on-site restaurant. However, it partners with a local restaurant called Demínka. As a hotel guest, you also receive a welcome drink voucher to enjoy when you order a meal at the restaurant. You ask for those vouchers at the receptionist’s desk. See the pictures below.

Resort Fee

There’s no resort fee at Clarion Hotel Prague City. The only fee you must pay is the city tax of around $4 per night. This fee must be paid whether you use points or not.

Clarion Hotel Prague City Parking

Clarion Hotel Prague City does not have a parking space for guests. However, you can find nearby parking lots or the parking garage at the Mamaison Residence Downtown. You pay directly with the garage for the parking place.

Pet Policy

Clarion Hotel Prague City is listed as a pet-friendly hotel. However, it does not mention the pet fees in the policy. So you should contact the property and inquire directly.

Housekeeping

Yes, housekeeping service is available, but I was told that they only provide service on the 3rd day during your stay. Furthermore, if you need anything, there’s a card you can check out needed items and hang on the door. I put on the “do not disturb” sign during my 4-night stays at Clarion Hotel Prague City.

Internet/Wi-Fi

Our room number is 403, on the 4th floor. But the Wi-Fi does not work on our iPhones. However, the Wi-Fi works great on my laptop. Also, If we step out of the room to the hallway or stay by the door, the Wi-Fi is good, too.

Furthermore, Wi-Fi speed works great in the hotel lobby area but terrible in our room for our iPhones. You must get the password to access the Wi-Fi from the front desk. The password is “clarion” if it’s not changed yet.

Bottled Water

No free water bottles. There’s sparkling bottled water inside the room, but it’s not free.

Early Check-in

Early check-in was not possible. I did an online check-in and paid the city taxes with a credit card online but was told by the system that I could not check in before 2 pm.

It’s worth mentioning that Clarion Hotel Prague City also offers a fast check-in kiosk that you can do yourself and make the room keys, etc. However, you must enter all the information, including your passport information, etc., to use that check-in kiosk. If you check in at the counter, the agent will do all that for you.

I used the self-check-in kiosk because the line was long, and I liked that I could create as many room keys as I wanted. In Europe, they generally only give one key, and you use that key to generate electricity inside the room. So when you go out of the room, the power inside the room is out, and the room can be hot when you return.

Late Check-out

I didn’t ask for a late check-out, but the hotel staff was friendly and helpful. It may be worth asking if you need a late check-out, but there’s no guarantee. They can also securely store suitcases for you if needed.
