UPDATES:

  • Chase Sapphire Preferred Cardย now offers 60,000 bonus points online.ย

Chase Sapphire Preferred Card is one of the best travel cards for beginners. The card earns Chase Ultimate Rewards (UR) points, which are flexible points to redeem for travel and transfer to Chase Airline and Hotel Transfer Partners such as United Airlines, Southwest, Hyatt, MARRIOTT, and more.ย
The card has a low $95 annual fee, and you get a $50 Hotel Creditย on each cardโ€™s anniversary. The benefit lowers the cardโ€™s annual fee to $45 before all other travel benefits that this credit card offers you.ย

Card Benefits

Annual Fee

Downgrade Options

  • Chase Freedom Flex Credit Card No annual fee.
  • Chase Freedom Unlimited Credit Card No annual fee.

Upgrade Option

You can upgrade Sapphire Preferred to Sapphire Reserve; however, I do not recommend doing so because you can miss out great welcome bonus offer on the Reserve card. The Reserve also has a much higher annual fee.
  • Chase Sapphire Reserve Credit Card ($550 annual fee)
