Chase Sapphire Reserve Credit Card now earns 10x bonus points per dollar spent on Chase Dining. That’s a lot of bonus points to earn for dining. So that makes me want to take a closer look at how the Chase Dining program works and what the eligible purchases are in this specific category.

    What is Chase Dining?

Chase Dining is basically just another reservation or food delivery and takeout system that you can place an order online through the Chase Ultimate Rewards website.
Chase Dining system is powered by Tock, a Chicago-based company that specializes in online reservation systems. Therefore, you will be required to create a separate Tock account to use Chase Dining.
Within Chase Dining through the Chase Ultimate Rewards:
    • You can make reservations for restaurants.
    • You can make reservations for special events or experiences.
    • You can also order meal takeout and food delivery with local restaurants.
    • You can prepay for the order with an eligible Chase credit card, use your Chase Ultimate Rewards points, or a combination of both.

Which Chase credit card is available for Chase Dining?

Currently, Chase Dining is available for the following Chase Credit Cards that earn Chase Ultimate Rewards (UR) points:
    • Chase Sapphire Preferred Credit Card
    • Chase Sapphire Reserve Credit Card
    • Chase Freedom Unlimited Credit Card
    • Chase Freedom Flex Credit Card
    • Chase Ink Business Cash Credit Card
    • Chase Ink Business Preferred Credit Card
    • Chase Ink Business Unlimited Credit Card

Earning 10x Bonus Points on Chase Dining Purchases

If you have a Chase Sapphire Reserve Credit Card, you can earn 10x bonus points per dollar spent with no cap on Chase Dining purchases through the Ultimate Rewards portal.
Whereas Chase Sapphire Preferred Credit Card, Chase Freedom Unlimited Credit Card, and Chase Freedom Flex Credit Card earn 3x bonus points per dollar spent on Chase Dining purchases.
Chase Ink Business Cash Credit Card earns 2x bonus points. Chase Ink Business Unlimited Credit Card earns 1.5x bonus points, and Chase Ink Business Preferred Credit Card earns only 1 point per dollar spent on Chase Dining purchases.

    What Are Chase Dining Purchases?

On the Chase Dining platform, you can place a meal order for takeout or delivery by prepaying for the service. Some restaurants even accept prepaid reservations too. Therefore, as long as you prepay for the service through Chase Dining in the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal, those purchases are considered eligible Chase Dining purchases. You’ll be able to earn your credit card’s bonus points per dollar spent on those expenses.
If your goal is to earn bonus Chase Ultimate Rewards (UR) points on Chase Dining purchases, avoid making a reservation that you will be paying at the restaurant because your Chase credit card then will be processed at the restaurant, and those purchases will be considered non-Chase Dining purchases.

    Chase Dining Locations

Currently, Chase Dining offers are not largely available across the United States yet. You’ll find more participating restaurants in a larger city like New York, Los Angeles, for example, than in smaller towns. More below on how to check whether Chase Dining is available in your location.

    How to Use Chase Dining?

It can be overwhelming at first while trying to explore the Chase Dining platform that is powered by Tock. There is a lot going on there, but here are some basic steps to get you started:
    • Go to the Chase Dining website.
    • Sign in to your Chase account and select a Chase Ultimate Rewards (UR) points earning credit card that you want to use.
    • Once inside the Chase Dining that is powered by Tock, on the top, you can change the location to your current location by your address, city, or zip code.
    • Next to the location field, you can find a restaurant business based on your preferences.
    • In the middle of the page, you can perform your search by selecting the Reservation Type, Date, Time, etc., and start searching. (See the screenshot below).

Depending on where you are at, if your search returns results:
    • Scroll through the list of restaurants that interest you.
    • Look for the ones that offer Prepaid services because those are the ones that you can prepay with your Chase credit card to earn bonus points on your Chase Dining purchases. See the screenshot below.
    • After you click on the Order now button, you will be asked to create an account with Tock if you never had one.
    • You then can start placing your order and pay for your purchases.

    Chase Dining Experiences

One thing that sets Chase Dining’s platform different from other reservations and food delivery platforms is the ability to make reservations for experiences that range from wine tasting to culinary experiences, and more.
Chase Dining experiences are available to cardholders of Chase Sapphire Preferred Credit Card and Chase Sapphire Reserve Credit Card. The experiences are not free, but you can pay for them with your Chase credit card such as the Reserve card to earn 10x bonus points per dollar spent or you can pay with your Chase Ultimate Rewards (UR) points.

Paying For Chase Dining With Points

While the Chase Dining platform is powered by Tock, it’s all integrated with the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal. This means that you can pay for Chase Dining purchases with your Chase credit card, Chase Ultimate Rewards (UR) points, or a combination of both.
The number of points needed for a Chase Dining purchase varies based on the Chase credit card you choose after you log into Chase Dining. For example, the points value for the Chase Sapphire Reserve Credit Card is 1.5 cents per point whereas the points value for the Chase Sapphire Preferred Credit Card is 1.25 cents per point and only 1 cent per point for the Chase Freedom Flex Credit Card and Chase Freedom Unlimited Credit Card.
