After our wonderful two nights stay at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel, we moved on to the Gaylord Opry Resort & Convention Center that’s located outside of Nashville downtown. It takes approximately 25 minutes more or less driving from downtown Nashville to the resort.

The Gaylord Opry Resort & Convention Center is huge and as in their advertisement: Everything in one place! Indeed, there are quite a few restaurants and bars at the resort, then there are activities to keep guests entertained such as evening live show, riverboat tour, water park, and arcade rooms to name a few. The resort is also located within walking distance to Nashville’s famous Grand Ole Opry House where we did a backstage tour the next day.

Atrium View at the Gaylord Opry Resort & Convention Center
I was lucky to be able to book a room for one night stay at the Gaylord Opry Resort for only 35,000 points per night
Marriott at the time was having a Marriott PointSavers promotion that gives you a discount on award night. Instead of using my Marriott points of 35,000 points per night, I redeemed my Marriott Free Night 35k Certificate for this stay instead. I considered that was a very good redemption to enjoy everything that the Gaylord Opry Resort & Convention Center has to offer.
At this time, it’s unknown when this property is back on the Marriott PointSavers list or when there’s a Marriott PointSavers promotion again. It’s very rare though but be sure to subscribe to our blog posts below so you’ll be notified when the promo returns. Our Marriott Promotions and Offers page is the central page that keeps readers informed of all Marriott’s latest promotions.

Complimentary Room Upgrade Atrium View

Prior to checking in, I used the chat feature in the Marriott Bonvoy app to inquire about any upgrades for our standard king room. They informed me that they had upgraded us to a King Atrium View room as part of Marriott Platinum Elite benefits and that they were not selling any larger suites at the time.

The room was a little bit dated but I already expected that from reading reviews on TripAdvisor. We originally booked into an exterior view room so the upgrade was very nice as you get the interior or Atrium view instead of the outside.

The room also comes with a small balcony that we enjoyed sitting there and listening to the waterfall. Everything was so green and beautiful in the Atrium.

During our riverboat tour at the resort, we were told that the resort likes to keep the temperature inside the Atrium at around 68 degrees Fahrenheit.

Welcome Amenity: $10 Credit Or 1,000 Bonus Marriott Bonvoy Points

The guy at the reception desk was not very informative when it comes to Marriott Bonvoy’s elite benefits at the property. He did not give me the options of $10 credit or bonus points. I had to ask and he simply told me that he would give me 1,000 bonus points. He did not mention anything about the $10 food and beverage credit. I found this information out later on Marriott’s website for Marriott Platinum Elite benefits when staying at a Gaylord brand property. It wasn’t a big deal though as 1,000 Marriott points to me is worth about $8 so it’s not a huge difference for me to take 1,000 points as my welcome amenity instead of the $10 food and beverage credit.

Self-Parking & Valet Parking

Valet parking costs $40/night and self-parking costs $32/night. The cost does not include taxes. We did the self-parking. You go in and out using your room key. So at the end of your stay, be sure to keep one of your room keys to use for leaving the parking lot if you self-park. There’s a key drop box right by the exit gate. Otherwise, you can press for assistance if you no longer have your room key.

Resort Fees

The Gaylord Opry Resort & Convention Center does have a resort fee of $20. It’s worth noting that, Marriott does NOT waive resort fees on award stays using points or free night certificates. The resort fees include the following:
  • High-speed in-room wireless internet access.
  • Unlimited local and long-distance calls.
  • Daily scheduled shuttle service to Grand Ole Opry House, Opry Mills, General Jackson Showboat & The Inn at Opryland.
  • Bottled water (2 daily) replenished once daily with housekeeping service.
  • Daily credit of up to $10 per room towards dry cleaning (credit is not cumulative through stay).
  • Gaylord Springs Golf Links practice range access, a daily bucket of balls, and shuttle.
  • Wildhorse Saloon cover charge for up to 4 guests (some restrictions apply).
  • Opry Mills Savings Passport is worth hundreds of dollars in additional savings.
Speaking of the Opry Mills Savings Passport, upon check-in they also provided that passport card. You simply show it to receive discounts at participating merchants. The savings inside the Opry Mills Savings Passport seems a little bit overlapping with the offers given to Marriott elite members (black key) as mentioned above. See the picture of the Opry Mills Savings Passport savings below.

  1. The Opryland Hotel has long been a favorite of our family! One thing to note: Your article mentions the "auditorium" several times, when I think you actually mean the "atrium" (as in a glass-covered room, similar to a conservatory). The atrium view rooms are our favorite!

  2. Thanks so much for reading and letting me know about the "atrium" – you are correct. I am not sure what I was thinking when I originally wrote it. Thanks again! And yes, the Atrium view rooms are also our favorites.
