Review: Marriott Platinum Upgrade and Benefits at Renaissance Nashville Hotel

Renaissance Nashville Hotel is a Marriott Bonvoy property.

I used two Free Night 50k Certificates to book well in advance to score the off-peak award nights for a total of 100,000 Marriott Bonvoy points for two nights stay. 

It’s worth mentioning that, when I made the award reservation, there was a $2.50 per night charge for taxes. However, the property never charged me that fee upon checking out. There’s no resort fees at Renaissance Nashville Hotel.

After booking, I applied Marriott’s two Suite Night Awards right away for the Suite King room. Unfortunately, as the days gone by the property was all booked up that also included the suite room that I wanted. Regardless, upon arrival for check-in, the hotel had upgraded our room to the highest 25th floor and it offers the view of Tennessee’s Capitol building and surrounding skylines. 

Throughout the stay, staff are well trained to recognize Marriott’s elite benefits and acknowledge my Marriott Platinum Elite status.

The room was not luxurious by any means but I slept very well and I really enjoyed the view from the 25th floor. Renaissance Nashville Hotel is a gigantic hotel and has more than 50 room types. 

It’s worth noting that, to reach the 25th floor on the elevator, you have to use your room key. I found that out when I was in the elevator to go up to my room, a group of people there was nice and wanted to press the 25th floor button for me, but it would not work because it required my room key. They were wondering how come their room did not need the room key while mine did to operate the elevator. They event made a small comment that was cool and asked me if anything special I had to do or book to get the room up there. I said that I received the upgrade because of my elite status with Marriott Bonvoy program. I felt special for a moment, but I did not have enough time to tell them the secret of points and all these elite status was obtained through credit cards 😉 This is why I love living the Points Life! 

Marriott Platinum Elite and above do have access to the Club Floor which is located on the 24th floor. Unfortunately, it was closed due to the COVID pandemic. However, the property still recognizes Marriott Elite members and benefits. See below. 

As mentioned above, while the Club was closed during my stay, Renaissance Nashville Hotel offered us vouchers for daily complimentary breakfast for two adults at the on-site restaurant called Little Fib. 

It was interesting to find out that, on our first morning on Sunday, the restaurant actually served buffet style breakfast. The free breakfast voucher can only be used for the buffet. The way they had it set up was that there was an attendant there that served you food and you have a server at the table that brings you drinks and any condiments that you’d like. 

The second morning on Monday, there was no buffet breakfast. So the free breakfast voucher can be used for a-la-cart breakfast items instead. You can literally order any items from their breakfast menu and it will not cost you anything. After you are done eating, you do not need to sign anything at all for both buffet or a-la-cart breakfast. The complimentary breakfast voucher also includes coffee, tea and juices as well. It was such a good deal for having Marriott Platinum Elite status. 

The welcome amenity for Marriott Platinum Elite members is either $10 food & beverage credit or 1,000 bonus points. At the time of this writing, I value Marriott points at 8 cents per point. So 1,000 points are worth $8 to me. So the difference is not really that much! But I chose the $10 credit. 

The receptionist was nice enough to inform me that if on the day of check-out and I did not use the $10 credit, they would be still happy to credit my account with 1,000 Marriott points instead. So that was really nice of them! The staff service at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel is really friendly and helpful!

I ended up using all the $10 credit. At the time, they have the Little Fib restaurant and another market place called Five Chords Mercantile that they have Starbucks coffee, drinks, gifts etc. for quick grab and go! I used the $10 credit there. 

First of all, parking in Nashville downtown is not cheap. The valet parking at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel costs $45/night plus taxes. We decided to do self-parking instead as it was much cheaper. It’s $20/night for self-parking at the Public Library parking right across the street from the hotel. You can reach the Renaissance via the sky bridge that connects the parking garage and the hotel’s property. 

Please note that, the Public Library parking is not associated with the Renaissance Nashville Hotel, so you cannot charge that parking fees to your room. 

The swimming pool and the fitness rooms at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel are just okay and located on the 2nd floor.
