Kaohsiung Marriott Hotel exceeded my expectations from Marriott Bonvoy elite recognition, suite upgrade to the on-site Executive Lounge amenities and offerings. Moreover, the award redemption is also not bad, and availability is good, especially if you can get the Marriott 5th Night Free.
Location
Kaohsiung Marriott Hotel is within the Love River location. The hotel is also connected to a shopping mall, and there’s a light rail in front of the mall. In addition, an MRT subway station is merely a 10-minute walk away from the property. I find it convenient to stay at Kaohsiung Marriott Hotel to explore Kaohsiung.
Room Upgrades
One day before my arrival, I messaged the hotel on the Marriott Bonvoy App for a possible Suite Upgrade as a Marriott Platinum Elite member. This is after I verified that there are suite rooms still available through a dummy booking. The hotel did not say one way or another and told me that they had notated my reservation for the upgrade, and I wouldn’t know until the day that I arrived to check-in. Fair enough!
Upon arrival, the hotel asked me if I wanted to go to the Executive Lounge on the 33rd floor to perform check-in because of my Marriott Platinum Elite status. Therefore, I told them that’s it okay to perform check-in at the front desk, and I also briefly mentioned my suite upgrade request. She understood and looked at her system. After that, she said she had an Executive Premier Suite on a high Floor with a City View available to upgrade me for my entire 5-night stay. Hallelujah!
Executive Suite Room Review
My Executive Premier Suite is on the highest 33rd floor, number 3307. The suite has an open floor plan with a nice sitting area and a coffee table. There’s also a television hung on the wall.
The king bed is also in the same room, and on the side, there’s a sofa and a shelf with some decorative items. The pillows, on the other hand, are too low, though.
In addition, there’s an extra room, but the seating is a little bit strange – it’s more of a Japanese style. There’s also an extra TV inside the room. The view from that room is really nice. It has a large window and offers Kaohsiung skyline views, especially at night.
The bathroom is an en-suite with a walk-in shower, a smart bidet, and a bathtub that has a big window offering skyline views as well.
The views from the suite are stunning because it offers the city, Love River, and skyscrapers of Kaohsiung.
Executive Lounge
Kaohsiung Marriott Hotel has an amazing Executive Lounge for Marriott Platinum Elite and above members. The lounge offers breakfast and appetizers along with cocktails, known as the Happy Hour. Moreover, the lounge also offers unlimited non-alcoholic beverages throughout the day.
The lounge is located on the highest 33rd floor, so it was convenient for me as my suite is on the same floor. The views are also stunning from the Executive Lounge.
The following are the Executive Lounge hours at Marriott Kaohsiung Hotel:
- Breakfast is served from 6:30 am to 10:30 am
- Happy Hour is from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm
- All-day delights and non-alcoholic drinks are available from 10:30 am to 10 pm.

Review Executive Club Lounge at Kaohsiung Marriott Hotel
Welcome Amenity
The check-in staff at Kaohsiung Marriott Hotel asked me to choose between points or free four voucher drinks. I chose the drinks but changed my mind because the staff told me that it’s not for alcoholic drinks. Moreover, I could enjoy unlimited non-alcoholic drinks in the lounge, too, from 10:30 am to 10 pm. Therefore, it makes sense to pick the 1,000 Marriott Bonvoy Points per stay instead. In fact this was her idea by talking me out of getting the vouchers. Clever!
Food & Beverage Credits
None.
Free Minibar
Kaohsiung Marriott Hotel offers a free minibar, and it is per stay. However, don’t get too excited. The minibar only has Coke products, no alcoholic drinks. You can get the same stuff inside the Executive Lounge, which stays open daily until 10 pm anyway.
Free Breakfast
Kaohsiung Marriott Hotel offers two elite breakfast benefits. I can choose to eat breakfast inside the Executive Lounge or at the on-site 9th-floor M9 buffet restaurant.
Both the Executive Lounge and the on-site M9 restaurant serve breakfast buffets. However, the executive club lounge’s food options are fewer than those of the restaurant, but it is a lot quieter than the public M9 restaurant. I tried both options during my 5-night stay based on my mood and hunger.
See the Executive Lounge review for more details.

Dining
There are quite a few dining options on-site at the Kaohsiung Marriott Hotel. The elite Executive Lounge kept me full enough, so I did not eat at any on-site restaurants.

Resort Fee
There is no resort fee. Moreover, there are no redemption taxes or any other fees. So, a free night is absolutely free at Kaohsiung Marriott Hotel.
Parking
Parking is available for both self-park and valet. Self-park is TWD 1,200 daily up to TWD 8,400 per stay. The valet is TWD 200 and is charged hourly.
Pet Policy
Kaohsiung Marriott Hotel allows pets, but each pet must be placed in the boarding cage that the hotel provides. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed to stay in the guest room. There’s also a maximum of 4kgs (~8lbs) pet weight allowed.
Housekeeping
Housekeeping is available and really good, too. During my five days, I turned down the service, but if I needed anything, the housekeeping staff was on top of it!
Internet/Wi-Fi
Yes free. There are two Wi-Fi available – Marriott Bonvoy or the hotel itself.
Bottled Water
Yes, there are quite a few in the suite by the minibar or in the bathroom. Kaohsiung Marriott Hotel is not stingy about that.
Early Check-in
I arrived after the check-in at 2 pm time, so I didn’t have to request an early check-in. However, it’s important to understand that Marriott Bonvoy’s elite recognition is good at Kaohsiung Marriott Hotel, so I’m sure you don’t have any issues with early check-in for being a Marriott Bonvoy elite member.
Late Checkout
The check-in staff was proactively asking me if I wanted a late checkout because of my Marriott Platinum Elite status. However, I did not take it because I had to leave early for my Taiwan HSR train to Taipei. The regular checkout time is noon.
Spa
Kaohsiung Marriott Hotel has a paid spa and a free spa. The free spa is a center with multiple mini pools with different temperatures. Both are on the 9th floor, and you must wear a swimming cap to use the spa. It’s also worth mentioning that you can buy the cap from the hotel, but if you want to save money, it’s best to buy it outside of the hotel.
Swimming Pool
The pool at Kaohsiung Marriott Hotel also requires a swimming cap. It’s a lap pool, and there are also a few loungers around the pool.
Fitness Center
The fitness center is also on the 9th floor, and this is the biggest fitness center that I’ve ever been to!
In-Room Safe
Yes, available inside the drawer.
Robes & Slippers
Yes, available inside the suite.
Service
I think the service at Kaohsiung Marriott Hotel deserves a spot here because the staff is genuinely polite and kind. They are on top of everything from inside the Executive Lounge, the restaurant, the housekeeping staff to the front desk staff.
