Choice Hotels are hit-and-miss when it comes to their properties, especially in the United States. However, there are some good redemptions around the world that require lower Choice Privileges points that are worth looking into. Personally, I have redeemed Choice points for some of those properties in Japan and Norway.

Econo Lodge – Auckland, New Zealand
If you just want a basic hotel with great location in the heart of the Auckland city in New Zealand, the Econo Lodge City Central fits the bill.
- It costs 6,000 Choice points per night when you stay from Sunday through Friday.
- For the weekend Friday through Sunday, it costs 10,000 Choice points per night.
Comfort Hotels – Japan
My favorite country Japan has a few Comfort Hotels in known destinations such as Tokyo, Osaka, and Nara. Each hotel requires only 8,000 Choice points per night. They are well located near subway stations for easy access to main attractions and provide complimentary Japanese and Western style continental breakfast with hot items. The rooms are a little bit small but that’s very normal in Japan.

Clarion Collection Hotel Drott – Karlstad, Sweden
This one is a no brainer. For only 8,000 Choice points per night, you can book into either their standard or superior room at the Clarion Collection Hotel Drott.
On top of that low redemption, you get to enjoy free breakfast every morning and free afternoon sweets along with free dinner featuring a main course, soup, salad and dessert every evening. You can view their full menu here.
Clarion Hotels – Stockholm, Sweden
There are two Clarion hotels in Stockholm that you can redeem Choice points for:
The Clarion Hotel Sign is within walking distance to the central station. I had the opportunity to stay there when I visited Stockholm and loved it.
For only 10,000 Choice points, you can book into the standard room or superior room at each property. They both provide complimentary hot breakfast buffet each morning as well.
Hotel No 13, An Ascend Hotel Collection – Bergen, Norway
Choice partners with Ascend Hotel Collection and you can redeem Choice points for a free night stay at one of those collection hotels. For only 12,000 Choice points, you can stay at Hotel No 13, An Ascend Hotel Collection in Bergen – the gateway to the beautiful Norway Fjord.
Hotel No 13 has a great location right in the heart of Bergen with easy access to several attractions. The hotel also offers amazing complimentary hot breakfast each morning.

Comfort Hotels – Oslo, Norway
For Oslo, you are going to need additional 4,000 Choice points per night. There are several Comfort hotels and Clarion hotels in Oslo that require 16,000 Choice points per night.
Depending on availability, you may be able to redeem the same amount of Choice points for a Suite room. They all come with free hot breakfast buffet also.
Kohea Kai Maui, Ascend Hotel Collection – Maui, Hawaii
Maui is expensive in general. Choice has one oceanfront vacation property there that you can redeem Choice points for – Kohea Kai Maui, Ascend Hotel Collection.
However, points vary based on the dates you pick so be flexible. The room starts at 20,000 Choice points per night or just 6,000 Choice points + cash option per night. If you are lucky, for that amount of points, you can book into their ocean view room. The property has outdoor pool, free parking, and a complimentary breakfast each morning to get you started before exploring the island.
