This is another great question from a reader: do you get World of Hyatt points and elite nights at Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH)?
The Small Luxury Hotels (SLH) has an exclusive partnership with Hyatt, similar to MGM and Hyatt’s Partnership. This is why some of Hyatt’s elite benefits don’t apply at SLH properties. You may wonder about earning Hyatt points and tier-qualifying night credits while staying at an SLH property and how many Hyatt points you can earn if you use your World of Hyatt credit card.
In this post, I want to go over all SLH Hyatt benefits and whether or not you should book SLH hotels through Hyatt or directly with SLH.

World of Hyatt & Small Luxury Hotels (SLH) of the World Partnership
Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) and World of Hyatt have formed an exclusive partnership that allows World of Hyatt members to earn and redeem Hyatt points and receive SLH’s on-property benefits.
Regardless of your Hyatt’s tier level status, you receive SLH’s on-property benefits such as complimentary breakfast, room upgrades, late check-out, etc. It does not matter if you are a Hyatt Globalist elite or just a Hyatt Member without any elite status, and you receive the same on-property benefits when staying at an SLH property.
Moreover, the partnership also means that while you can book your SLH stay with Hyatt, SLH is not a Hyatt brand. Therefore, you will not earn the brand’s stay towards the Hyatt Brand Explorer Award, which offers one Hyatt Free Night Award for every five unique Hyatt brands you stay at.
Small Luxury Hotels (SLH) Hyatt Benefits
To receive SLH’s on-property benefits, you must:
- Book your SLH stay directly through Hyatt’s booking channels, such as Hyatt mobile app, website, or reservation centers.
- Pay an eligible rate or redeem World of Hyatt points for a free stay.
- Provide your World of Hyatt account number on the reservation.
- This is automatically done if you book your SLH stay after logging into your World of Hyatt account.
Aside from the tier bonus points earned, every World of Hyatt member receives the same benefits when staying at SLH properties. When you book a qualifying stay at an SLH property through Hyatt, you receive the following exclusive on-property benefits, regardless of your Hyatt elite status:
- You earn five (5) base points per $1 spent on eligible room rates with SLH.
- Free night redemption is not eligible to earn points.
- Incidental spending, such as dining, activities, spa, etc., is not eligible to earn points, but you can earn Hyatt points if you use a Hyatt credit card to pay for those charges. More below.
- If you have Hyatt elite status, you also earn elite tier bonus points:
- 10% bonus for Discoverist
- 20% bonus for Explorist
- 30% bonus for Globalist
- You earn 4 bonus World of Hyatt points per $1 spent at SLH properties. This includes any incidental charges as well.
- Unfortunately, this is not an automatic process and requires you to send Chase a message to have Chase manually credit the bonus points. More below.
- Nights are counted as tier-qualifying nights towards Hyatt elite status whether you pay for SLH stays with cash or points redemption.
- Complimentary full continental breakfast for two.
- Complimentary Internet Wi-Fi.
- Complimentary one-category room upgrade based on availability at check-in.
- Early check-in and late check-out are based on availability.
Do You Get Hyatt Points at Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH)?
Yes!

Do You Get Hyatt Points at Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) With A Hyatt Credit Card?
World of Hyatt has two Hyatt credit cards:
- Chase World of Hyatt Credit Card –
- Chase World of Hyatt Business Credit Card –
Each Hyatt credit card offers 4 bonus Hyatt points when you use the card to pay for an eligible Hyatt’s stay. This is in addition to your base points and tier bonus points you earn through an eligible Hyatt’s stay.
- The good news is that this also applies to the Small Luxury Hotels (SLH) stays, although this is not a true Hyatt brand.
- You earn 4 bonus Hyatt points for the room rate and all incidental spending, such as dining, activities, spa, etc., when paid with a Hyatt credit card.
- The bad news is that points are not automatically credited correctly when Chase sends the points to Hyatt.
Chase sends only 1 point per $1 spent when they send the points to Hyatt. To resolve the issue, you must reach out to Chase using the secured message feature via your Chase account and simply ask Chase to review your SLH spending transaction and award you the missing 3 Hyatt points accordingly. See the section below for my experience and timeline regarding this matter.
Do You Get Hyatt Business Card’s $100 Annual Credit Benefit at Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH)?
Yes – the benefits’ terms and conditions clearly state that cardholders of the Chase World of Hyatt Business Credit Card can earn up to $100 annual Hyatt credit at participating SLH properties.
You can earn a $50 statement credit per qualifying Hyatt purchase with your World of Hyatt Business Credit Card up to 2 times each anniversary year (for a total of $100). Qualifying Hyatt purchases are single transactions of $50 or more made at Hyatt hotels and resorts (including at participating restaurants and participating locations that are owned, managed, franchised or licensed by Hyatt Corporation or its subsidiaries or affiliates), at participating SLH properties, and on Lindblad Expedition experiences purchased directly through the World of Hyatt program. “Small Luxury Hotels” or “SLH” means Small Luxury Hotels of the World Limited. “Participating SLH properties” means any hotel or resort that is affiliated with SLH and participates in the World of Hyatt Program.
The problem is that Chase, the issuer of the Hyatt statement credits, is not functioning to issue the credits automatically. Therefore, you must contact Chase to manually issue the credits, like earning points with a Hyatt credit card spending at the SLH properties mentioned above. You can simply send a secured message and wait for Chase to respond.
I personally experienced this matter. After completing my stay at the Bergwelt Grindelwald, an SLH property in Switzerland, and paying using my Chase World of Hyatt Business Credit Card, I did not receive the $50 Hyatt statement credit. I waited a few days to make sure before reaching out to Chase via the secured message. Here’s my timeline:
- August 13 – I contacted Chase via secured message online.
- August 13 – I received the receipt acknowledgment message, and another message about my inquiry had been forwarded to the appropriate department.
- August 20 – I received the response that Chase issued the necessary Hyatt credit and the remaining 3x bonus points for purchases at SLH properties.
We have made the necessary adjustment to the purchase made with Hotel Bergwelt. The $50 credit will reflect in two business days and on your next statement billing.
We have also issued the remaining 3x points for thispurchase.
Therefore, the process took around 1 week. In the end, I received the appropriate Hyatt statement credit and Hyatt points for using my Chase World of Hyatt Business Credit Card to pay at the Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) property.
Do You Get Hyatt Elite Nights at Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH)?
Both cash and points redemption for SLH stays are eligible to earn tier-qualifying night credits towards Hyatt elite status.
It is crucial to remember that you must book the stay at SLH locations directly through Hyatt to earn elite night credits.
Do You Earn Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) Brand Towards Hyatt Brand Explorer Award?
Unfortunately, not.
Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) has an exclusive partnership with the World of Hyatt, but it is NOT a Hyatt brand. Therefore, you will not see SLH as a brand under the Hyatt Brand Explorer Award, for which you can earn one Hyatt Free Night Award after staying at five unique Hyatt brands.
Should You Book SLH Stay Through Hyatt Or SLH?
It all boils down to this question: Should you book your next Small Luxury Hotels (SLH) stay through Hyatt or directly with SLH?
Up to this point, you should know that Small Luxury Hotels of the World and Hyatt have a special partnership that allows Hyatt members to earn and redeem World of Hyatt points at participating SLH locations. Moreover, all World of Hyatt members, regardless of Hyatt’s elite status, receive SLH’s on-property benefits such as room upgrades, free breakfast, early check-in, and late check-out that are based on availability. You also earn World of Hyatt points and tier bonus points through SLH’s revenue stay. You also earn extra bonus Hyatt points for paying for all charges incurred during your SLH stay if you use your Chase World of Hyatt Credit Card or your Chase World of Hyatt Business Credit Card. But to receive the exclusive benefits mentioned, you must book directly with Hyatt.
Unfortunately, the points you earn using the Chase World of Hyatt Credit Card or the Chase World of Hyatt Business Credit Card to pay for room and incidentals are not automatically credited.
