Chase dropped an announcement on a new personal no annual fee credit card called Chase Freedom Flex. The card will be available for new applications starting September 15, 2020, and the existing Chase Freedom card will be discontinued for new applications. Chase Freedom Unlimited will also get new earning and benefits starting September 15, 2020.
There are actually quite a few good things going on for the Freedom Flex and Freedom Unlimited cards in terms of their benefits and cash back earnings. In this post, I want to take a closer look at all 3 Freedom cards.

NEW Chase Freedom Flex Earning & Benefits Details
You earn cash back on:
- 5% on Bonus Quarterly Categories – Card members can activate each quarter to receive 5% cash back on up to $1,500 in combined purchases on bonus categories such as grocery stores, select streaming services and many others.
- 5% on Travel purchased through Chase Ultimate Rewards, including vacation and car rentals.
- 5% on Lyft rides through March 2022. Plus $10 in credit for every five rides as part of the MasterCard’s World Elite benefits.
- 3% on Dining purchases, including take out or eligible delivery services.
- 3% on Drugstore purchases on daily essentials like medicine, toiletries, diapers and other items.
- 1% unlimited cash back on all other purchases.
Freedom Flex is a MasterCard and therefore it comes with the following World Elite Benefits:
- Cell Phone Insurance – Up to $800 per claim and $1,000 per year in cell phone protection against theft or damage for phones listed on card members’ monthly bill.
- Lyft – $10 in credit for every five rides taken in a calendar month, automatically applied to the next ride and capped at once per month.
- Boxed – 5% cash rewards on Boxed purchases for use on future purchases.
- ShopRunner – Free membership to receive two-day shipping and free return shipping at over a hundred online retailers.
- Fandango – Double VIP+ points for movie tickets purchased via the Fandango app or Fandango.com, which can be used towards purchasing movie tickets on Fandango or towards streaming movies and TV shows on FandangoNOW.
Freedom Flex Other Benefits:
- Purchase Protection – Covers your new purchases for 120 days against damage or theft up to $500 per claim and $50,000 per account.
- Extended Warranty Protection – Extends the time period of the U.S. manufacturer’s warranty by an additional year, on eligible warranties of three years or less.
- DoorDash – Get a complimentary 3 months of DashPass, DoorDash’s subscription service that provides unlimited deliveries for a $0 delivery fee on eligible orders over $12 (other fees may apply). After that, you are automatically enrolled in DashPass at 50% off for the next 9 months. Activate by December 31, 2021.
