Credit card companies occasionally offer bonus points for adding an authorized user to a credit card. The process of adding an authorized user is simple. However, itโ€™s important to note that when you become an authorized user, the credit card issuer reports that account as open on your credit report.

Chase is a credit card company that allows you to add authorized users to your account. However, they report this to credit bureaus, so if you are an authorized user, it will show up on your credit report.

Does Chase Report Authorized Users to Credit Bureaus?

Yes. If you are an authorized user on a Chase credit card, Chase will report that credit card as an open account to credit bureaus. Therefore, that account will show up on your credit report.ย

Do Authorized User Cards Count Against Chaseโ€™s 5/24 Rule?

Chase has a well-known 5/24 Rule for approving or denying credit card applications based on the number of credit cards youโ€™ve opened in the past 24 months.

When you, as an authorized user, submit a new application for a Chase credit card, Chase will review your credit report. They cannot identify whether you are merely an authorized user on any credit card accounts in your report. If Chase finds that you have opened five (5) or more new credit card accounts in the last 24 months, they will deny your application. However, you can call the Chase reconsideration line to explain your situation, which may allow them to exclude that authorized user card from counting against the 5-card limit.

How To Remove a Chase Authorized User Card Account From Your Credit Report?

Chase allows you to request the removal of an eligible credit card account from your credit report. By default, when you are no longer an authorized user on a Chase credit card, that account does not automatically disappear from your credit report. The primary cardholder can remove you as an authorized user and then send a secured message to Chase online with the instructions provided below.
