I spent four nights at Secrets Lanzarote Resort and Spa, all booked with World of Hyatt points. The redemption included an all-inclusive experience, which made such a great redemption. I also used a Hyattโ€™s Suite Night Upgrade Award to stay in the Junior Suite Oceanview and had access to the Preferred Club throughout my stay, which was fantastic.

Secrets Lanzarote Resort Location

Secrets Lanzarote Resort and Spa is situated on a cliff by the Puerto Calero marina in Lanzarote, Canary Islands of Spain, so there isnโ€™t a beach. However, the resort does offer a small man-made beach for guests. I appreciated the location of this Secrets property because thereโ€™s a famous hiking trail behind the resort that connects Puerto Calero to Puerto del Carmen, taking about two hours for a round trip via coastal cliff path.

Preferred Club Junior Suite Upgrade

I booked a standard award room for 17,000 Hyatt points per night, which included the all-inclusive package. Additionally, I used a Suite Upgrade Award to secure a Preferred Club Junior Suite Oceanview.

A few key points regarding the upgrade:

  • Secrets Lanzarote resort has three Hyatt standard suites, but only the Preferred Club Junior Suite, as the room type name suggests, provides access to the Preferred Club lounge and areas.
  • You can also use a Club Access Award for the reservation and have access to the Preferred Club.
  • To apply the Suite Upgrade Award to the reservation, you need to contact Hyatt directly because online does not allow. I reached out to Hyatt Concierge via Twitter for assistance, and the agent had to contact the resort.

Is the Preferred Club at Secrets Lanzarote worth it?

Absolutely! If you have Globalist status or a club access award, I highly recommend utilizing them. Not only do you gain access to the exclusive Preferred Club lounge and pool area, but you also enjoy access to the on-site restaurants that are unavailable to non-club guests. Review: The Preferred Club at Secrets Lanzarote Resort

Preferred Club Junior Suite Oceanview Room Review

I was assigned room 601, which is on the same level as the reception and right next to the Preferred Club Lounge. I liked that it was a corner room, providing a larger balcony space. However, it is susceptible to noise from the lobby Piano Bar, which hosted music performances every night from 9 PM to 10:40 PM. If youโ€™re a light sleeper and go to bed early, this room may not be ideal for you.

On the plus side, being close to the Preferred Club Lounge made it easy to grab beverages throughout our stay. The Junior Suite is spacious and features a modern design, complete with a small couch and a coffee table.

The beds at Secrets Lanzarote Resort are two doubles. There are no single beds, which I found odd for a romantic, adults-only resort. Itโ€™s strange to sleep apart, but the beds are very comfortable, and you can request firmer pillows.

The bathroom includes a jacuzzi bathtub, a separate toilet, a double vanity sink, and a nice walk-in shower. The overall look and feel are very modern.

Due to the Junior Suiteโ€™s corner location, the balcony is quite large. It features a table and two chairs. Moreover, being on the 6th floor, it offers a small glimpse of the pool and a partial ocean view.

Overall, Iโ€™m satisfied with the assigned Preferred Club Junior Suite Oceanview, though the noise insulation regarding the Piano Bar could be bothersome.

Secrets Lanzarote Resort and Spa Club Lounge

Secrets Lanzarote Resort and Spa has a Preferred Club Lounge accessible only to guests with Preferred Club privileges, such as Globalists, paid club guests, and award club guests like me.

Welcome Amenity

Inside the room, there was a welcome letter and fresh fruits on the table.

Food and Beverage Credits

These are unnecessary if your rate is all-inclusive. The World of Hyatt redemption included the all-inclusive package, allowing you to enjoy unlimited food and beverages during your stay. Most drinks are included, but if not, it will be indicated on the menu or you can ask the staff.

Breakfast

You can enjoy breakfast at the main buffet restaurant or a la carte at the on-siteย Portofino restaurant, which is exclusive to Preferred Club guests. We opted for the Portofinoย every day during our stay due to the less crowded atmosphere and a la carte menu.

Secrets Lanzarote Resort Dining

Secrets Lanzarote Resort and Spa is an all-inclusive resort featuringย several restaurants, from bars and grills to fine dining. The best way to check opening hours and menus is through the Hyatt Inclusive Collection app.

Resort Fee

None.

On-site Parking

Self-parking is complimentary.

Pet Policy

Secrets Lanzarote Resort and Spa allows small dogs, and charges may apply.

Housekeeping

Housekeeping service is available twice a day, including a turndown service at night.

Internet Wi-Fi

Yes, Internet Wi-Fi is complimentary and fast, especially at the exclusive Preferred Club swimming pool area. However, itโ€™s not as reliable in the main resortโ€™s area.

Bottled Water

Bottled water is available at the restaurant or inside the Preferred Club Lounge. Itโ€™s also available in the minibar fridge inside the room.

Early Check-in

Europe can be strict about early check-ins, and Secrets Lanzarote Resort and Spa is no exception. Even though we arrived at the resort at 3 PM, our room wasnโ€™t ready until the regular check-in time of 3:30 PM.

A welcome drink of your choice and a cold towel are also available during check-in.

Late Check-out

I didnโ€™t request a late check-out, but the front desk offered it to me. Since our flight was at noon, the regular check-out time of noon worked perfectly for us.

Spa

As a Preferred Club guest, you receive an hour of spa circuit access. Unfortunately, the spa was a bit crowded for a relaxing experience. They sell spa circuit access to resort guests, which may explain the lack of exclusivity despite requiring reservations.

The spa is lovely, but the atmosphere didnโ€™t meet my expectations. I did enjoy swimming in the heated pool with massaging jets, while other guests explored the tea room, sauna, and various jacuzzis.

Fitness Center

Yes, itโ€™s located adjacent to the spa.

In-Room Safe

Yes, located inside the closet.

Robes and Slippers

Yes, robes are hung in the bathroom, and slippers are provided in the closet.

Swimming Pools at Secrets Lanzarote Resort

Secrets Lanzarote Resort and Spa has three outdoor swimming pools for the general public, non-club guests. The main pool is huge and heated. Below one level, thereโ€™s a round, shallow pool for laying in and relaxing under the sun. Then, thereโ€™s another good-size, heated pool on the side. There is no shortage of lounge chairs and umbrellas around all the pool areas.

Moving down to the ocean side, theย Preferred Clubย swimming pool has a bar, The Lounge, right in the middle. Preferred Club pool is also heated, but not as warm as the main pools above. Nonetheless, the Preferred Club swimming pool area is fantastic, and the pool bar service is very attentive.

Beach at Secrets Lanzarote Resort

The Secrets Lanzarote Resort and Spaย is on a cliff, so it is an oceanview resort rather than a beachfront resort. However, the resort has made an effort to create man-made beach areas for guests to enjoy.
