Lufthansa First Class is all about the experience, including the Ground Experience at the Lufthansa First Class Terminal. Some may have no preference whether the flight is a Boeing 747 or not. However, I prefer the Boeing 747 First Class over other aircraft. Riding in one of those nose seats in the Queen of the Skies 747 is fun. Suffice it to say it is one of the bucket lists for aviation geeks such as myself.

I had the fortunate opportunity to experience Lufthansa First Class and Korean Air First Class on the Boeing 747. Comparing the two, I enjoyed the privacy and experience on Korean Air more than Lufthansa. Regardless, both First-Class experiences are special and memorable.

Lufthansa First Class Seat 1A and 1K

I’ll show you how to score one of the Lufthansa First Class nose seats 1A or 1K on the Boeing 747. This is based entirely on my booking experience without any elite status with Lufthansa.

Meanwhile, I want to warn you that the methods rely on availability. However, I also noticed that while the Lufthansa seat maps show one of those seats unavailable, the seat, in fact, is available but not selectable. I’ll also show you how I did it to select the seat successfully.

Use ExpertFlyer’s Seat Alert

ExpertFlyer has a free feature for seat alerts. Utilizing that tool, you can see how many First Class seats are still available on your particular flight. You can then compare that with the seat map on the Lufthansa website to see if the nose seats are, in fact, unavailable for selection.

Book A Dummy Revenue Ticket

Another method is to pretend that you were booking a revenue First Class ticket on the Lufthansa website. Go through the booking process until you get to the seat selection page to verify whether the nose seats are still available.

Ask at the Airport’s Check-in Counter

If one of those nose seats is available but blocked on the Lufthansa website, calling Lufthansa will not help. Instead, wait until you get to the airport and ask the check-in desk agent to select it for you. It is the exact experience that happened to me. However, the airport’s check-in agent successfully selected nose seat 1K for me without any issues.

Furthermore, if no nose seats are available, you can also continue checking if the nose seat opens at the last minute. In that case, you can also ask the airport’s check-in agent to select it for you.

Ask in the Lufthansa First Class Lounge

Each Lufthansa First Class lounge has a concierge desk, including the Lufthansa First Class Terminal in Frankfurt.

You can utilize the methods mentioned above to persistently check if one of the nose seats becomes available. If one is available, the concierge desk can re-assign you to that seat despite you already checking into your flight.

Conclusion

One of my bucket lists is to sit in the nose seat 1A or 1K on a Boeing 747 aircraft with Lufthansa First Class. When the seat map on the Lufthansa website shows that one of those nose seats is unavailable, you cannot totally believe it. Instead, utilize the methods that I mentioned in this article to double-check whether one of those nose seats is, in fact, unavailable. If the seat is available for selection but blocked for you to select online or when you call in, then wait until you get to the airport or the First Class Terminal in Frankfurt to ask a Lufthansa agent to select the seat for you successfully.
