When flying All Nippon Airways (ANA) First Class out of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), you can access the United Polaris Lounge located in Terminal 7 because both ANA and United are members of the Star Alliance airlines. However, please note that ANA flights depart from the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT), and the distance between Terminal 7 and TBIT is not close. So plan accordingly if you want to experience the LAX United Polaris Lounge; otherwise, you can access the Star Alliance First Class Lounge at TBIT with your ANA First Class boarding pass.

United Polaris Lounge is not large, but it's not crowded because United makes it exclusive for travelers to access with restricted policies. I love that the United Polaris Lounge has a dining room where you can sit down and order food and drinks off the menu.

    Location & Hours

LAX United Polaris Lounge is located in Terminal 7. Flights out of LAX with ANA take place at the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT). You must walk or take the LAX Airlines Connections Shuttle to Terminal 7 from TBIT. You should take the shuttle, as it can be a walk, depending on which terminal you start with. More below.

United Polaris Lounge is located by Gate 77 and is open daily from 6:30 to 10:30pm in Terminal 7.

Getting from Terminal 3 to Terminal 7 at LAX:

I flew a domestic flight to LAX for my ANA First Class flight with Delta Air Lines. The arrival terminal was Terminal 3, so I took the LAX Airlines Connection Shuttle from Terminal 3 to Terminal 7 because Terminals 1, 2, and 3 do not connect to Terminals 4, 5, 6, 7, and TBIT. Here's how:
    • After deplaning, walk towards the ground transportation.
    • Be sure to go to the ground level and look for the pink color post. See the image below.
    • Wait for the blue LAX shuttle bus and make sure the sign says "airline connections."
      • People needed clarification with that shuttle and the one that goes to economy parking.
    • Get off at Terminal 7, take the escalator or elevator to the ticketing area, and clear TSA security.
    • After security, a sign will guide you to the United Polaris Lounge.

You may wonder how to clear the TSA security if you arrive early, and the ANA check-in counter at TBIT Terminal only opens 3 hours before flight departure. Therefore if you are early and want to check out the United Polaris Lounge, you'll have to a boarding pass beforehand and head to Terminal 7. You must perform a check-in online with ANA, and LAX airport now uses technology to verify you without your boarding pass; only your passport or ID is required. If you want to be 100% sure, you can also print or have the boarding pass emailed to you after online check-in with ANA, or you want to stay airside after you finish visiting United Polaris Lounge. See below.

When you finish United Polaris Lounge, you can walk to TBIT from there if you have a boarding pass. Otherwise, you can exit Terminal 7, take the LAX shuttle to TBIT, check in with ANA, and get your paper ANA boarding pass issued by ANA staff. The check-in experience is also memorable because you will use the ANA First Class lane's red carpet!

If you have too little time at LAX, check in with ANA, clear TSA security at the TBIT Terminal, and access the amazing Star Alliance Lounge instead.

United Polaris Lounge at LAX is nice. If you have several hours of layover, getting to Terminal 7 for the lounge is worth it before checking out the Star Alliance First Class Lounge at Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) for your ANA First Class flight.

The Polaris Lounge is not big but not crowded, and it features a buffet and dining a la carte with quality food and plenty of alcoholic drinks to choose from.
