Renovations
Let's start with the renovation plans first.
Hilton Guam Resort & Spa has information at the hotel, specifically at the
Premier Tower, where most
Hilton Honors Diamond elite members are staying, that they are renovating rooms in that tower, including theÂ
Executive Lounge. The renovation will take place from
March 1 - July 31, 2023. Keep in mind this is a targeted date, so that can change.
The property really shows its age and date. An improvement would be good!Â

Location
Hilton Guam Resort & Spa is located on the other side of Tumon Bay, closer to Ypao Beach. While you can walk to the Tumon Bay area, it can be a walk, and Ypao Beach is a public beach within walking distance of the property.Â
The photo on the official Hilton Guam Resort & Spa's front page is the Ypao Beach State Park. In fact, Hilton Guam Resort & Spa is more of an oceanfront resort than a beachfront resort because the resort is not situated on the beach.Â

Room Upgrades
Hilton Guam Resort & Spa has a few standard rooms available for bookings. Those rooms require lesser Hilton Honors points, 50,000 Hilton points per night. I chose the Ocean View Main Tower King room, and on the check-in date, I noticed that the room type had changed to Premier Executive King room for being a Hilton Honors Diamond elite member.Â
Looking at room types at
Hilton Guam Resort & Spa,
Premier Executive King is several categories that jump from the standard room type in the
Main Tower. This is mainly because
Hilton Honors Diamond elite members receive complimentary access to the
Executive Lounge at the
Premier Tower. Hence, the property likely puts all Hilton Honors elite members in the
Premier Tower.Â
Room Review
I select the location of the Premier Executive King room on my own via the Hilton app's check-in. Unfortunately, the property was pretty busy, and only a couple of rooms were available for me to choose from. I chose the 7th Floor, room number 795, because it faces Ypao Beach.

The Room is really dated, and both carpets and decors need updating. The bed is comfortable, but the pillows are too low for me.Â

The bathroom and shower door are also dated. The plumbing could be better.Â

The balcony offers a good side view of Ypao Beach and the park due to how the Premier Tower is built. There are 14 floors, and my Room is on the 7th Floor. The view is alright but not the greatest either.Â

If you look at the Hilton Guam Resort & Spa property exterior pictures, there are two sections of the property: Main and Premier Towers. The Main Tower faces the ocean and swimming pools, while the Premier Tower has side views of the ocean, Ypao Beach, and the park.Â
The Main Tower also needs updating because it also shows its age.Â

Premier Tower Renovation
Hilton Guam Resort & Spa is undergoing renovations in the Premier Tower for March 1-July 31, 2023. Therefore, if you stay after those dates and the scheduled renovation date is correct, you may have better luck than me staying in a nice new room at the Premier Tower.Â
Executive Lounge
The
Executive Lounge at
Hilton Guam Resort & Spa is a good size lounge with plenty of seats. I especially love window seats with ocean views.Â
When I was there, the
Executive Lounge served breakfast and evening hors d'oeuvre (appetizers) and cocktails. The breakfast is better than the evening service, but free unlimited cocktails are also nice. While food is a buffet, cocktails are served by the waiter/waitress who works inside the lounge.Â
Here's a full review of the Executive Lounge:
Welcome Amenity
Upon check-in, the front desk gave me a box of macadamia chocolate as an appreciation for being a Hilton Honors Diamond elite member.Â
You also get 1,000 bonus Hilton Honors points as a welcome amenity.Â

Food & Beverage Credits
While Guam is a U.S. territory, fortunately, it's not considered a U.S. property. Therefore,
Hilton Honors Diamond elite members get access to theÂ
Executive Lounge for complimentary breakfast instead of food and beverage credits. So you do not get food and beverage credits at
Hilton Guam Resort & Spa because you get access to theÂ
Executive Lounge for being a
Hilton Honors Diamond member.Â
Breakfast
Breakfast is complimentary for
Hilton Honors Diamond elite members, and it's served inside theÂ
Executive Lounge. The American breakfast options are good inside the executive lounge; it is all you can eat.Â
Here's a full review of the Executive Lounge:
Dining
Hilton Guam Resort & Spa has a few dining options, from a quick grab-and-go cafe to a lounge bar and seafood restaurant. The
Tree Bar has a special promotion of $6 for two ribs and a Heineken draft beer every day and any time of the day. The happy hour is from 5-7pm and offers a 50% discount for beers, wines, and well-drinks.Â
Resort Fee
While Hilton Guam Resort & Spa is a resort property, there's no resort fee to worry about.Â
Parking
Self-parking at Hilton Guam Resort & Spa is complimentary to all guests. Hilton Honors Diamond members have special parking spots, too, though I needed help finding them. Valet parking is also available for $5 per night.Â
Pet Policy
Service animals only.
Internet/Wi-Fi
The internet at Hilton Guam Resort & Spa is good but slow, especially if you step out of the buildings. To connect to Wi-Fi, you connect to Hilton Honors Wi-Fi.
Bottled Water
Hilton Guam Resort & Spa offers complimentary two bottled water inside the Room. However, you must pay $3 per bottle for additional bottles. That's a little stingy, right?

Early Check-in
The regular check-in time is 3pm. I attempted to check in early, but the Room was not ready because the resort was busy.Â
Late Check-out
I did not ask for a late check-out because I had to leave Guam early. The regular check-out time is noon 12pm.
Spa
There's a spa at Hilton Guam Resort & Spa, but we did not use it.
Fitness Center
The fitness center at Hilton Guam Resort & Spa is large and located on the ground floor below the lobby level.Â
In-Room Safe
Yes, inside the closet.
Robes & Slippers
Yes, inside the closet.
Swimming Pool
Hilton Guam Resort & Spa has four (4) pools, and they are all family-friendly.Â
The lower pool is the biggest, and then there's a kid pool and a water slide. On the top, there's an infinity pool overlooking the sea.Â

Infinity Pool |
All the pool areas can be too crowded, and hard to rest and relax. The infinity pool is nice, but seats are limited and can be crowded and loud because they allow children to use it too. So we opted for just renting the beach chair and beach umbrella instead. See below.Â
Beach and Amenities
Hilton Guam Resort & Spa is not a beachfront property; it's more of an oceanfront property because the resort does not have a beach. However, there's a little beach section if it's low tide. Otherwise, you'll have to walk to the nearby Ypao Beach to enjoy beach activities.Â
 |
Beach Section at Hilton Guam Resort & Spa If Low Tide |
Hilton Guam Resort & Spa does not offer free lounge chairs, umbrellas, or cabanas to guests. There's a Guam Adventure water activity place separate from the resort. However, you can rent chairs, cabanas, and umbrellas and have the rental costs charged to the Room. They also have water sports such as kayaks and paddle boards for rent.Â
 |
Cabanas at Hilton Guam Resort & Spa |
There are only 3 cabanas, and the going rate is $45 for half a day (4 hours) or $75 for the whole day. If you are okay with the regular 2 lounge chairs and an umbrella, it costs only $30 for the whole day. But here's an interesting thing, whenever you rent cabanas or lounge chairs, the rent fee is a "credit" that you can use to rent the water activity pieces of equipment. For example, we rented 2 lounge chairs and an umbrella, and we got two pairs of snorkeling gear because they cost $30 to rent.Â
 |
Rentals |
I did snorkeling there and highly recommend it. It's shallow and has beautiful corals and fish. I also like that Hilton Guam Resort & Spa built stairs so you can go down to the ocean.Â
