UPDATE: Grand Hyatt Washington DC will be undergoing renovation from February 1 through July 31, 2024. Therefore, the Grand Club is temporarily closed. However, the hotel offers exclusive dining alternatives. See the photo below.

The Grand Hyatt Washington DC is one of my favorite DC hotels, especially if you have the World of Hyatt Globalist elite status; you will enjoy your stay from the Grand Suite upgrade to the Grand Club access for complimentary food, dessert, and drinks.

As a Globalist member, my recent stay at the Grand Hyatt Washington DC was incredible. The Grand Suite upgrade was amazing, and here is a full review of the suite and the property:

Location

Grand Hyatt Washington DC has a good location, conveniently situated in the central DC area with quick access to public transportation and China Town. While it’s also within walking distance of the National Mall, it still takes a bit of walking.

Grand Suite Upgrades

As a World of Hyatt Globalist, my standard room got a complimentary upgrade to the Grand Suite, the Standard Suite that’s available for a free upgrade to Globalist members in the World of Hyatt program.

At first, Grand Hyatt Washington DC only upgraded me to the deluxe king room. However, one day before my check-in date, I noticed that the Grand Suite was still available for cash booking, so I reached out to Grand Hyatt Washington’s Facebook page and asked if I could receive the upgrade to the Grand Suite instead as a Globalist member, if available. The social media team acknowledged my request and forwarded it to the General Manager along with my email address and reservation confirmation number. I heard back from the GM via email, saying they would do their best to accommodate my request based on availability. Sure enough, I went to look at my reservation via the Hyatt app after reading the email, and gratefully, the room type became the Grand Suite. Halleluja!

This is why I love the World of Hyatt program!

Grand Suite Room Review

The Grand Suite room at the Grand Hyatt Washington DC is amazing! I was traveling alone, so the suite was too big for one person. Still, I enjoyed it very much.

Grand Suite is huge. After the entrance, you are greeted with a spacious living area and entertainment center that leads to a long dining desk, a good size bedroom, and finally, a large bathroom with a jacuzzi tub.

The views from the Grand Suite are nothing special. It overlooks surrounding tall office buildings, given that the Grand Hyatt Washington DC is located in the middle of the business district in the downtown DC area.

Overall, I am very pleased with the Grand Suite and strongly recommend it if you can score an upgrade to the suite as a Globalist member. Here’s the video of the suite:

    1. Hi Lacey, Globalist parking is waived if your stay is free using World of Hyatt points or Hyatt free night awards. However, you must use the valet parking there, not the self-park.
