Best Western Free Night Award Basics

I find the booking process for a free stay with Best Western using the Free Night Award voucher simple and quick. The Best Western customer service is very competent in handling this request. 

• First, you should ensure the award stay is available for the location and dates you want. 
• To do so, you simply go to bestwestern.com, provide your search parameters, and check the Use Rewards Points to perform your search. 
• I noticed that Best Western Pioneer Inn shows awards not available when using Best Western mobile app but available when using the bestwestern.com website. So keep that in mind if you use the app to check award availability.
• Once you confirm the award availability, call Best Western customer service at 1-800-567-4009 and choose option #1 to make the reservation with an agent. 
• Once the agent is on the line, let him or her know that you would like to use the Free Night Award to redeem for a stay. 
• The agent will ask you for the location, date, and number of people staying in the room. Once award availability is confirmed, the agent will inform you about the cancellation policy and proceed to make the booking for you. 
• You will receive a confirmation email, or you can view the reservation in your Best Western account. 
• The reservation shows the Rewards Points amount, but that does not mean you are redeeming points for this stay. This is similar to what it shows when you use the Hilton Free Weekend Night Reward if you are familiar with that. 
• Notice the Special Requests section. Below is what mine says: 
• The hotel will redeem Best Western Rewards points/ Free Night Voucher at check-in. Guest will be charged the prevailing rate if the point balance is insufficient or Free Night Voucher is invalid.
• When you arrive at the hotel to check in, simply present the printed Free Night Award voucher email to the front desk, and they will take care of it from there based on the instruction provided by Best Western. 

You Use Free Night Award Voucher, Not Rewards Points

As you go through the booking process using the Best Western Free Night Award above, you do not have to give the customer representative your Free Night Award voucher information the entire time. The booking confirmation shows that you use the Free Night Award in the Special Request section on the reservation. 

Therefore, you do not have to do anything special if you want to cancel the reservation. As long as you cancel the reservation as defined in the cancellation policy, you can cancel it online or with customer service. There’s no need to have the Free Night Award voucher re-issued. 

There are circumstances where you want to book for multiple nights with the same confirmation number and stay in the same room so that you do not have to check out and check in again or explain to the front desk during check-in time. In that case, it is possible to combine the Free Night Award with either cash or points, and you must contact Best Western customer service to assist in making such a reservation. You must call Best Western to use your Free Night Award anyway, as it is impossible to book the reservation using the Free Night Award online at this time. 

Without the Free Night Award, it’s also worth mentioning that the Best Western online reservation system currently does not allow combining cash and points bookings on one reservation for multiple nights. You must call customer service to help because their reservation system allows them to make that reservation’s request. 

Yes. If you look at the terms and conditions of the Free Night Award, it clearly states that the award is transferable for use by friends and family. In other words, you can call in and ask the agent that you want to make a reservation using multiple people’s Free Night Awards to stay in the same room under the same confirmation number.
