Master List of Hotel Points Expirations & Extensions [2022]

Don’t let your hotel points expire. Here’s the complete list of hotel points’ expiry policy in each rewards program and how you can extend them. The list will be updated frequently, so feel free to bookmark this page or subscribe to our blog posts below.

    • Accor Live Limitless points expire 365 days (1 year) after your last earning activity. 
    • Accor pauses points to expire for elites such as Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond members through December 15, 2022. 
    • Direct Link to Accor’s validity of reward points.

    How to Check When Accor Live Limitless (ALL) Points Expire

    On the Accor Website:
    • Sign in to your Accor account online. 
    • Click on My Account & Rewards in the top right-hand corner. 
    • Click on Rewards Points.
    • You can see the expiration date shown under your total rewards points section. 
    On the Accor App:
    • Open the Accor ALL app and log in. 
    • Tap on the Account at the bottom of the screen. 
    • You can see the expiration date shown under your total rewards points section. 

    How to Keep Accor Live Limitless (ALL) Points From Expiring

    Depending on the transaction type you make to earn from keeping Accor points expired, it can take up from 7 days to several weeks before those points are posted to your Accor account. Therefore, plan accordingly.

    How to Check When Choice Privileges Points Expire

    The best way to see when your Choice Privileges points expire is to check it on the Choice Hotels website on the desktop browser, not the mobile app. 
    • Go to the Choice Privileges account. 
    • You can find when your Choice points expire under the Status at Glance on the left-hand side. The wording is “Keep your points active by completing one of many qualifying activities by April 5, 2024.”

    How to Check When Hilton Honors Points Expire

    On the Hilton Website:
    • Hilton’s website does not show when your Hilton Honors points expire.
    • You can sign in to your Hilton Honors account activity and check Other activity to view the last time you earned Hilton Honors points. 
    • Use the Date range drop-down list to help determine eligible activity within the past 24 months. 
    On the Hilton Mobile App:
    • Open the Hilton app and log in. 
    • Tap on the Account at the bottom.
    • Tap on the Account at the top. 
    • Tap Points Activity to help determine eligible activity within the past 24 months. Hilton does not show the exact date your Hilton Honors points will expire. 

    How to Keep Hilton Honors Points From Expiring?

    Hyatt

    • World of Hyatt points can expire if you do not have activity on your account for 24 months. 
    • See the official World of Hyatt Terms and Conditions under Will I be required to have the activity to keep my World of Hyatt account open?

    How to Check When World of Hyatt Points Expire

    On the Hyatt Website:
    • Hyatt’s website does not show when your World of Hyatt points will expire.
    • You can sign in to your World of Hyatt account activity and click Past Activity to view the last time you earned or redeemed World of Hyatt points. 
    • Use the date range to help determine eligible activity within the past 24 months. 
    On the Hyatt Mobile App:
    • Open the Hyatt app and log in. 
    • Tap on the Account at the bottom.
    • Tap on the Past Activity. 
    • View all your past activities to help determine eligible activities within the past 24 months. Hyatt does not show the exact date your World of Hyatt points will expire. 

    How to Keep World of Hyatt Points From Expiring

    • Earn Hyatt points through Hyatt stays, including MGM Resorts International and Small Luxury Hotels of the World.
      • Check out Hyatt & MGM Rewards to learn more about the partnership and earn World of Hyatt points through MGM stays. 
    • Earn Hyatt points through FIND Experiences and Lindblad Expeditions. 
    • Earn Hyatt Points when you fly with American Airlines. 
    • Earn Hyatt points through World of Hyatt credit cards: 
      • Chase World of Hyatt Credit Card
      • Chase World of Hyatt Business Credit Card
    • Transfer 1,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards (UR) points to Hyatt.  
    • Purchase World of Hyatt points. 
    • Combine Hyatt points with another World of Hyatt member. 
    • Convert World of Hyatt points to airline miles (poor use of points, though). 
    • Redeem Hyatt points for stays. You must check in for this activity to count. Booking an award reservation and canceling the reservation will not count as qualifying activity. 
    • Redeem Hyatt points for dining, spa, and more.

    IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group)

    • IHG One Rewards points only expire for non-elite members. If your current status is Club, you do not have elite status. 
    • IHG One Rewards points expire if you have twelve (12) months of inactivity in your IHG account. 
    • IHG pauses points expirations due to the COVID-19 pandemic until December 31, 2022. 
    • IHG One Rewards Terms and Conditions (see under Point Expiration).

    How to Check When IHG One Rewards Points Expire

    On the IHG Website:
    • IHG One Rewards points only expire for non-elite members. If your current status is Club, you do not have elite status. 
    • IHG revamped its website and no longer shows when IHG One Rewards points will expire for non-elite members. 
    • You can sign in to your IHG Rewards account activity and check the qualifying activity last time you earned or redeemed IHG points within the past 12 months. 
    On the IHG Mobile App:
    • Launch the IHG app and log in. 
    • Tap on the Account at the bottom of the screen. 
    • Scroll down, tap on the Account Activity, and check the qualifying activity last time you earned or redeemed IHG points within the past 12 months. IHG does not show the exact date your points will expire. 

    How to Keep IHG One Rewards Points From Expiring

    • Earn elite status with IHG One Rewards program, and your IHG points will never expire. The easiest way to reach IHG elite status without any stays required is to consider getting one of the Chase IHG credit cards:
      • Chase IHG Premier Credit Card offers you IHG Platinum Elite status
      • Chase IHG Premier Business Credit Card offers you IHG Platinum Elite status
    • Earn IHG points through qualifying stays booked directly with IHG. 
    • Redeem IHG points for an award stay. 
      • Redeeming and canceling the reservation is not a qualifying activity to prevent your IHG points from expiring. 
      • Redeeming the IHG Anniversary Free Night also does not prevent IHG points from expiring. 
    • Redeem IHG points for digital rewards, starting at just 100 points for the City Press Careers eMagazine. 
    • Earn IHG points through Chase IHG Credit Cards:
      • Chase IHG Premier Credit Card
      • Chase IHG Premier Business Credit Card
      • Chase IHG Traveler Credit Card
      • Chase IHG Rewards Club Select Credit Card (unavailable for new applicants)
    • Transfer 1,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards (UR) points to IHG One Rewards.

    • Marriott Bonvoy points expire when you do not have qualifying activities within 24 consecutive months. 
    • Marriott pauses points expirations due to the COVID-19 pandemic until December 31, 2022.

    How to Check When Marriott Bonvoy Points Expire

    On the Marriott Website:
    • Marriott’s website does not show the exact date your points will expire.
    • You can sign in to your Marriott Bonvoy account and check the activity to view the last time you earned or redeemed Marriott Bonvoy points. 
    • Use the filter drop-down and select All Qualifying to help determine eligible activity within the past 24 months. 
    On the Marriott App:
    • Open the Marriott app and sign in. 
    • Tap on the Account at the bottom of the screen. 
    • Tap on Account Activity.
    • Tap on the drop-down list and select All Qualifying to help determine eligible activity within the past 24 months. Marriott does not show the exact date your points will expire.

    How to Keep Marriott Bonvoy Points From Expiring

    • Earn Marriott points through a paid stay booked directly with MARRIOTT.
    • Earn Marriott points through Marriott Homes & Villas. 
    • Earn Marriott points through Marriott co-brand credit cards:
      • Chase Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card
      • Chase Marriott Bonvoy Bold Credit Card
      • American Express Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant Card
      • American Express Marriott Bonvoy Business Card
    • Transfer 1,000 American Express Membership Rewards (MR) or Chase Ultimate Rewards (UR) points to Marriott Bonvoy. 
      • Gifting or transferring Marriott points to another Marriott member’s account is not a qualifying activity to keep your points from expiring. 
    • Transfer Marriott points to airline partners. 
    • Purchase Marriott Bonvoy points. 
    • Earn Marriott Bonvoy points with partners:
    • Check out Marriott Promotions and Offers to earn more Marriott Bonvoy points.

    Wyndham

    • Wyndham Rewards has two (2) policies for points expiry:
      • Wyndham points expire if your account has no activity within 18 consecutive months. 
      • Wyndham points expire 4 years after earned, whether there’s an activity in your account or not.

    How to Check When Wyndham Rewards Points Expire

    On the Wyndham Rewards website:
    • Log into your Wyndham Rewards account
    • Click the drop-down where your name is, and click on My Activity.
    • The My Activity page on the left-hand side shows when your Wyndham Rewards points expire under the Notifications. 
    On the Wyndham Mobile App:
    • Open the Wyndham app and log in. 
    • Tap on My Account at the bottom. 
    • Scroll down towards the bottom, and you can see when your Wyndham Rewards points expire under the Notifications. 

    How to Keep Wyndham Rewards Points From Expiring

    Wyndham Rewards points can expire if there’s no activity in your account for 18 consecutive months. You must earn or redeem Wyndham points to show qualifying account activities to keep your Wyndham points from expiring:
    For the second policy: the 4-year Wyndham points expiry policy that’s completely different than the 18-month expiry policy. The 4-year clock starts from the date your Wyndham points were earned and can expire regardless of account activity. To keep your Wyndham points from expiring 4 years after they are earned:
