I decided to burn one Hyatt Free Night Award certificate from my Chase World of Hyatt Credit Card membership anniversary at Motif Seattle, a Destination by Hyatt Hotel.
I mainly wanted to use up the free night award and achieve the Destination brand towards the Hyatt Brand Explorer Award.
Motif Seattle failed to impress me, to say the least, but the hotel’s location is an excellent choice if you want to be central to everything Seattle offers. Here’s my review in detail:

Location
Motif Seattle offers an excellent location because it’s centrally located to all Seattle attraction highlights, from Pikes Market to Waterfront. You can catch the ferry to other islands or enjoy the Ferris wheel ride overlooking Seattle skyscrapers.
Therefore, if you’d like to be in the heart of Seattle downtown, Motif Seattle fits the bill. The property is only a Hyatt category 4 hotel that you can use your Hyatt Free Night Award for redemption.
Globalist Room Upgrades
As a World of Hyatt Globalist member, I received an upgrade to the King Bed with Water View room one day before check-in. Honestly, the room is a mediocre hotel room. More reviews of the room are below.
Other Globalist elite members receive upgrades up to the Water View Suite. The hotel was really busy due to the Animation convention that was going on at the time, so being able to get upgraded to a Water View room for me was still better than no view.
Water View Room Review
I arrived late in Seattle from the Amtrak train at night, and the room was ready. My room photos are a little bit dark because they were taken at night.
The bed was comfortable, but I really dislike small pillows. Motif Seattle provides a few pillows on the bed, but they are tiny. On the side, there’s a seating couch with quite a few decorative pillows too.

The rain shower and shower knobs are odd, and they function strangely and are very confusing with low water pressure. I really did not like the bathroom at Motif Seattle.
The toilet is even crazier, and it flushed like it was literally sucking something out of the toilet and sounded really loud. The overall bathroom experience is insanely weird.

The Water View Room itself is a good, mediocre hotel room. Other than a good size window with a nice Puget sound view, I seriously think that Motif Seattle rooms did not impress me.

It’s important to know that when it comes to complimentary breakfast for Globalist elite members at Motif Seattle, there are three options you can choose:
- 500 bonus Word of Hyatt points
- Starbucks $10 per person
- Grab & go from the on-site restaurant that opens only on Saturdays and Sundays for a quick breakfast. There are hot items such as turkey croissants, sausage, egg muffins, coffee, juices, and pastry.
The Starbucks $10 credit works by going to the Starbucks adjacent to the property and making your purchase. After that, you take the receipt back to the hotel, and they will reimburse you up to $10 per adult.
Alternatively, you can head to the onsite restaurant Frolik on the 5th floor, pick whatever you want, and have the bills charged to the room for the grab-and-go. Your bill will be comped, including the tip. However, the 20% service charge added to all checks at Frolik is not comped, so keep that in mind. The bill is automatically adjusted, so you do not need to ask for that.

Motif Seattle Restaurant
There’s only one on-site restaurant called Frolik. It’s a rooftop deck, but it’s not on the rooftop. It’s actually on the 5th floor and offers indoor and outdoor dining. The price is on the high end.
All checks include a 20% service charge.

Destination Fee
Motif Seattle is a Destination by Hyatt Hotel, and therefore they do have a $20 destination fee plus tax. The destination fee is waived for me because I redeemed a Hyatt Free Night Award, and Hyatt does not charge a destination or resort fee when members stay on redemption.
According to the hotel, the destination fee includes the following enhanced guest experiences:
- Pacific Northwest seasonal beverage offering, served in Frolik Kitchen + Cocktails Tuesday to Saturday
- Wine pour in the lobby from Sunday to Monday
- Premium High-speed wireless internet (Wi-Fi)
- 20% discount on Frolik Kitchen + Cocktails Grab-And-Go Breakfast, currently available on weekends (discount excludes alcohol)
- 20% discount on Soothe in-room spa treatments
- In-room caffeine bar featuring Keurig single brewer with coffee and tea products
- Two bottles of Motif Seattle still water
- Tesla and Electric Vehicle charging station
- Discount on Space Needle + Chihuly Garden and Glass museum ticket purchase
- 20% discount on Columbia Tower Sky View Observatory tickets
- Pour with tasting purchase or 10% discount on bottle purchase at Four Eleven Wine Lounge
- 30% discount on boxing fitness classes at RowdyBox
- 20% discount on excursions with Argosy Cruises

Parking
Parking is not cheap, but that’s normal for downtown Seattle parking. Self-parking is available for $50 per night.
Globalists receive free parking on award stays.

Yes, available.
Internet/Wi-Fi
Yes, you’ll need a password to access the internet, and it’s on the room’s key holder.

Yes. You can find two bottled water chilled in the refrigerator.
Late Check-out
Globalists can receive a late check-out up to 4pm if available. I did not use the benefit, but when I did the online mobile check-in, I was able to select 4pm without problems.
Spa
There’s no spa at Motif Seattle.
Fitness Center
A fitness center is available, but I didn’t use it.
Swimming Pool
Motif Seattle does not have a swimming pool.
