Each IHG free night certificate can be redeemed for a free night’s stay at worldwide IHG hotels and resorts with a redemption value of up to 40,000 points. In other words, your IHG free night reward certificate has 40,000 points value for the award stay’s redemption.
The good news is if you want to redeem the certificate at an IHG property that requires more than 40,000 points, you can top up the certificate with IHG rewards points. See below.
How Does IHG Free Night Certificate Top Off With Points Work?
Here’s how IHG free night certificate top off with points works:
- IHG Anniversary Free Night certificates earned from the discontinued Chase IHG Rewards Club Select Credit Card are NOT eligible for the top-off feature.
- IHG free night certificates earned through IHG Rewards Promotions and Offers, including IHG Anniversary Free Night certificates earned from Chase IHG Premier Credit Card and Chase IHG Premier Business Credit Card, are eligible for the top-off feature.
- There’s no maximum of IHG rewards points you can top off each IHG free night certificate.
- There’s no blackout date for redemption.
- The top-off functionality can be completed online.
- You get your IHG free night certificate and points back if you cancel the reservation within the allowed cancellation window set by the property.
How To Find IHG Free Night Certificate?
Via IHG Website:
- Go directly to the IHG account homepage.
- Log into your IHG One Rewards account.
- Click on Rewards Wallet, and your IHG free night certificate can be found there.
Via IHG Mobile App:
- Open the IHG app on your mobile phone.
- Log into your IHG One Rewards account if you are not logged in.
- Tap on the Account at the bottom.
- Tap on the Rewards Wallet.
- If you have free night reward certificates, they’ll be available for you to see.
How To Redeem IHG Free Night Certificate & Top Off With Points?
Before we begin, it’s worth re-iterating the following:
- IHG Anniversary Free Night certificates earned from the discontinued Chase IHG Rewards Club Select Credit Card are NOT eligible for the points top-off feature.
- IHG free night certificates earned through IHG Rewards Promotions and Offers, including IHG Anniversary Free Night certificates earned from Chase IHG Premier Credit Card and Chase IHG Premier Business Credit Card, are eligible for the points top-off feature.
Step-by-step on how to redeem IHG free night certification and top off with IHG Rewards points:
- First, you must make sure your IHG One Rewards account has an IHG free night certificate available for booking for the redemption rate code to show for booking.
- Log into your IHG One Rewards account and click on Rewards Wallet.
- Find the IHG free night reward and click the Book Free Night button.
- You are redirected to the IHG booking page with the IHG Rewards Premier Card Annual Flex Night rate in the Rate Preference dropdown list.
- Please note that if your IHG free night is earned from the discontinued Chase IHG Rewards Club Select Credit Card, the rate will show Select IHG Rewards Credit Card Anniversary Night which is not eligible for the points top-off feature.
- Provide your search parameters and click on the Search button.
- On the result page:
- If the property requires 40,000 IHG points or less, you’ll only see Chase Anniversary Night and a Select Hotel button.
- If the property requires more than 40,000 IHG points, you’ll see Chase Anniversary Night plus additional points needed above the Select Hotel button. See the screenshot below.
- Simply follow the booking interface to finalize your IHG Anniversary Free Night certificate’s redemption like you normally do.
