On our last night in Minneapolis after the JW Marriott Mall of America, I decided to book a stay using Marriott Bonvoy points at the Moxy Minneapolis Downtown. The Moxy hotel requires lesser points than other downtown Marriott Bonvoy hotels, and it’s within walking distance of the Stone Arch bridge. Here’s the review.

    Location

The location of the Moxy Minneapolis Downtown is great. It’s surrounded by various restaurants and pubs in the Mill District. It’s also just a 3 minutes walk away from Minneapolis tram station. It’s close to the U.S Bank Stadium and Minneapolis’s iconic Stone Arch Bridge.

    Room Upgrades

This Moxy hotel Minneapolis doesn’t bother much with your elite status, let alone provide you with any room upgrades. So lower your expectations if you are a Marriott elite member staying there.

King With Twin Bed Loft Room Review

Moxy brand focuses on younger millennia crowds. So you can expect their rooms to be more industrialized and “different.”
Like this Moxy Minneapolis Downtown, the King room comes with a twin bed and looks like a loft. See photos below:

    Executive Lounge

Moxy brand doesn’t have any executive lounge for Marriott’s elite members.

    Welcome Amenity

Whether you have elite status with Marriott Bonvoy, all guests receive complimentary two cocktail drinks on arrival. The welcome drinks can be any draft beers, wine, or Moxy special.
Moxy special cocktail is the signature drink consisting of Bacardi cherry rum and fresh lime.

    Food & Beverage Credits

No such thing at Moxy brands.

    Breakfast

Moxy Minneapolis Downtown is not a full-service hotel. So they do not serve or have an on-site restaurant that serves breakfast.

    Dining & Restaurants Nearby

Moxy Minneapolis Downtown has only a bar in the lobby. If you want to dine, it’s better to go out of the property and find other dining venues within the Mill District within walking distance of the property. When we were there, they only served pizza at the bar, and that’s it. Food is super limited at the property.

    Bar & Menu

Moxy Minneapolis Downtown has a full-service bar, and they make unique drinks. Upon check-in, you can use the complimentary cocktails for any draft beers, wine, or signature Moxy drink at the on-site bar.
Moxy’s signature drink consists of Bacardi cherry rum and fresh lime.
To view the bar menu, go to the Yelp site and click through the uploaded photos.

    Parking

Valet parking only, and it costs $35 per day. You can find other off-site parking for a lower cost if you’d like.

    Housekeeping

The housekeeping service is available, but we did not use it. Speaking of housekeeping, I couldn’t help to laugh at the do not disturb sign at the hotel. See the photo below.

    Points Booking

Moxy Minneapolis Downtown is part of the Marriott Bonvoy program, so you can use Marriott Bonvoy points or a Marriott Free Night Certificate to redeem for a free night’s stay there.
During the off-season in Minneapolis, the cash rate is not expensive. Because the Marriott Bonvoy program now operates under the dynamic award pricing model, the required points per night fluctuate by the cash rate.
