When you book a hotel’s room on a paid stay, several hotel programs out there offer the Best Rate Guarantee (a.k.a BRG) that you can submit a claim form. If your claim is approved, the hotel’s program will match the lower rate and some hotel’s programs even throw in additional discounts, gift cards, or bonus points that will really sweeten the deal. 

Accor, Choice, Best Western, Hilton, Hyatt, IHG, Marriott, Radisson, and Wyndham all offer BRG when you book directly through them and find a lower rate somewhere else. It is really important to understand each program’s terms and conditions in order to successfully submit a BRG claim.

    Accor

    Accor offers the Best Price Guarantee if you find a lower price elsewhere within 24 hours of booking. 
    If the claim is approved: 
    • Accor will give you 25% off the competitor’s rate (except for Fairmont, Raffles, and Swissôtel where you will be given 10% off instead).

    Accor Best Price Guarantee Terms Excerpt:

    • You can file a BRG claim if, within 24 hours of booking and no later than 48 hours before your arrival date, you find a lower rate on the competitor’s website with the following criteria:
      • Same date(s) and same length of stay.
      • Same rate conditions (i.e. refundable or non-refundable, prepayment and deposit requirements, room only or with breakfast included, booking cancellation, and change condition)
      • The same type of room (identical category, size, beds, view, or location).
      • The same number of people in the room.
      • A room offered at a lower public price and available for booking, this price is calculated in an identical manner, on the same basis as the total cost of the stay with the same inclusions (taxes, VAT, services), on the website, mobile website or third-party application (“Third-party booking channel”)

    Best Western

    Best Western offers a Low Rate Guarantee if you find a published rate on the Internet that is lower than what is published on bestwestern.com
    If your claim is approved:
    • Best Western will match the lower rate.
    • In addition, Best Western will send you a $100 USD Best Western Travel Card (subject to terms and conditions) within 2 to 3 weeks after your stay is completed. 

    Best Western Low Rate Guarantee Terms Excerpt:

    • The claim form must be submitted within 24-hours of making the reservation.
    • Reservations booked within forty-eight (48) hours of the hotel’s earliest published check-in time on the arrival date of the claim are not eligible. 
    • The competing rate must be for the same hotel, dates, length of stay, currency, number of guests, and similar room type. 
      • Editor’s Note: Please note that it does not matter if you book a flexible rate or a non-refundable rate. As long as the public viewable competing rate is lower than the lowest rate available on bestwestern.com, your claim will be approved. Thus, it’s highly recommended you book a refundable rate. The lowest rate available on Best Western is typically their Rewards Member Rate.
    • Only one check-in/check-out is permitted per stay. Limit one (1) Travel Card per household per claim for any stay and only one (1) Travel Card per household during any thirty (30) day period (lower rate will be honored regardless of eligibility of Travel Card due to limitations). 
    • The $100 (USD) Travel Card will be emailed or mailed after the consumer’s stay is completed. Virtual cards will be emailed within two to three weeks after the consumer’s stay is completed. Physical plastic cards will be mailed within four to six weeks after the consumer’s stay is completed.

    Choice

    Choice Hotels offers a Low Price Guarantee if you find a publicly viewable rate on other sites that is lower than what you book on your Choice’s reservation. 
    If your claim is approved:
    • Choice Hotels will match the lower price. 
    • Additionally, U.S. and Canadian residents will receive a $50 reward card after completing their stay and international residents will receive their first night free

    Choice Hotels Low Price Guarantee Terms Excerpt:

    • The Lowest Price Guarantee only applies to the following rates: Best Available Rate, Advance Purchase, Choice Privileges membership, Choice Promotions, AAA, and Senior/AARP.
    • The difference between the Booking rate and the Competing Rate is equal to or greater than $1.00 USD (or the equivalent unit in the hotel’s currency, e.g., €1) or 1%, whichever is higher.
    • You submit the online claim form informing Choice of the lower rate within 24 hours of the Booking and at least 48 hours prior to a 6 pm arrival on the first day of the Booking.
    • The Competing Rate is:
      • Available for the same hotel, dates, room type, type of currency, and length of stay and is based on single or double occupancy with the same rate terms/restrictions (including but not limited to, advance purchase requirements; pre-payment and deposit requirements; and cancellation and change policies).
      • Publicly viewable and available on the Internet on a Third-Party Website and, as determined by Choice representatives, is lower than the rate offered on ChoiceHotels.com at the time the claim is reviewed by Choice by an amount greater than the U.S $1.00 (or the equivalent unit in the hotel’s currency, e.g., €1) or 1%.     Hilton

    Hilton offers Price Match Guarantee if you find a lower qualified price on another booking site. 
    If Hilton approves your claim:
    • Hilton will match the lower price and give you an additional 25% off that stay. 

    Hilton Price Match Guarantee Terms Excerpt:

    • A lower price you find on a booking channel that is NOT one of the official Hilton booking channels.
    • Must be for the same accommodations and terms as your current booking.
    • The price must be without restriction, meaning that it is viewable and bookable by anyone.
    • These are the types of prices that do NOT meet the criteria of a “lower qualified price”:
      • Different room type
      • Different hotel
      • Room with a different view
      • Includes different amenities
      • Check-In/Check-Out dates are different
      • The number of guests is different
      • The difference in terms such as cancellation policy or advance deposit, etc.

    How to Submit Price Match Guarantee with Hilton

    There are two options to submit Hilton’s Price Match Guarantee claim:
    Option 1: 

    • You may submit the Price Match Guarantee through Hilton’s online claim form here up to 24 hours after your reservation is made. 
    • Only one claim may be submitted for each reservation.
    • You will receive an e-mail confirmation or phone call within 24 hours after Hilton’s receipt of your claim.
    • If you are claiming a lower price found on another site through a mobile site or mobile app, you must include screenshots of the app and reservation details.

    Option 2:
    • You may contact any of Hilton’s contact center agents to submit the claim over the phone either before you have made a reservation or up to 24 hours after your reservation is made.
    • The name on the claim form must match the name on the reservation for each room.
    • Only one claim may be submitted for each reservation.
    • If you are calling from the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands, call 1-800-445- 8667. Otherwise, contact the local reservations office for your region.
    • If you are claiming Price Match using this option, a reservation confirmation number with Hilton is not required and the claim can be made the day before arrival or the day of arrival.

    Hyatt

    Hyatt offers the Best Rate Guarantee to allow you to book with confidence through Hyatt. If you find a better rate, you can submit the Best Rate Guarantee claim and if your claim is approved:
    • Hyatt will match the lower rate and give you two (2) more choices:
      • Hyatt can take an additional 20% off the matched rate or,
      • Hyatt can give you 5,000 World of Hyatt bonus points after you complete the stay. 

    Hyatt Best Rate Guarantee Terms Excerpt:

    • Book a stay at a Participating Hotel through a Hyatt website;   
    • Within 24 hours of your booking, on the Internet find a publicly available and immediately bookable room-only rate available on the Internet for the same stay (e.g., same hotel, the same type of room, the same number of guests, same dates of stay, same length of stay, same guarantee and cancellation policies, and same booking conditions) that is lower in price than the room rate you booked on the Hyatt website (“Competing Rate”); and
    • In the event that the Competing Rate is in a different currency than the Hyatt.com rate, Hyatt shall convert the Competing Rate and the Hyatt.com rate into a common currency chosen by Hyatt in Hyatt’s sole discretion.  If, after conversion to the same currency, a Competing Rate is less than three percent (3%) lower than the Hyatt.com rate, then such Competing Rate shall not qualify for the Best Rate Guarantee.  Such deviations are often the result of fluctuations in currency exchange rates and other factors beyond Hyatt’s control.
    • If you have booked a prepaid stay on Hyatt.com and submit a valid Claim, then Hyatt will refund you the original rate and charge you the new rate.
    • Any reservations made with consecutive night stays at the same location shall be considered one stay/reservation for purposes of the Best Rate Guarantee and therefore, shall only receive one (1) Reward if verified and eligible.
    • Each Claim may only cover one (1) room, and a guest may submit up to three (3) Claims per night. For a valid Claim, only one (1) Reward will be issued per stay regardless of the length of the stay

    IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group)

    IHG Hotels & Resorts offer the Best Price Guarantee (BPG), except for hotels in Mainland China, Macau, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. 
    If you find a lower rate somewhere else, you can submit a claim and if your claim is approved:
    • IHG will match the lower rate and,
    • IHG will give you 5X the IHG Rewards Club Points, up to 40,000 points maximum. 

    IHG Best Price Guarantee Terms Excerpt:

    • The reservation must be booked using the “Best Available” search feature to find the lowest rate available for the chosen room type.
      • Please be advised that the program requires the reservation to be booked under the lowest available rate for the chosen room type on the IHG site regardless of the cancellation policy and rate inclusions.
      • Editor’s Note: I personally do not like this term because that means you have to book the non-refundable rate which is typically the best and lowest rate found on the IHG site. If the claim is not approved, you cannot change or cancel the reservation. 
    • If you find a lower rate on an eligible, non-IHG website within 24 hours of making your reservation on the IHG direct channel, and it is more than 24 hours before the standard check-in time for the hotel where you made your reservation, you can submit the online claim form (“Claim Form”). 
    • The non-IHG website rate must be:
      • In the same currency as the rate you booked through an IHG channel;
      • Available to the general public – in other words, you are not required to sign up for any kind of membership or be part of any program, or log in to a website, to obtain the rate;
      • Available to book at the time of verification;
      • Bookable only if you provide a form of payment to complete the booking (rates that do not require a form of payment are ineligible!); and
      • At least 1% lower than the current, lowest rate available on the IHG website or mobile app – this accounts for any rounding errors!
    • The 5X Points Award will be calculated on the room rate only, and will not include any other charges billed to your hotel room portfolio.

      How to Submit Best Price Guarantee with IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group)

      • IHG only accepts Best Price Guarantee claim through its online claim form here.
      • There’s no need to submit any screenshot evidence to support your claim. 

      Marriott

      Marriott offers a Best Rate Guarantee that you can submit a claim form if you find a lower rate on a competitor’s website or mobile site/app. 
      If your claim is approved, Marriott will:
      • Match the lower rate and give you two (2) additional options to choose from:
        • Additional 25% discount on the matched rate or, 
        • 5,000 Marriott Bonvoy bonus points after you complete your stay. 

      Marriott Best Rate Guarantee Terms Excerpt:

      • Certain rates do not apply to this guarantee. For example, a Comparison Rate does not qualify if it is not publicly available, such as negotiated corporate rates, senior or group rates, or rates available through paid memberships (AAA, etc), rates negotiated for extended stays, rates that have different rules such as cancellation or refund policies, or rates that include differing guaranteed custom room options. 
        • Editor’s Note: Through my personal experience, Marriott is not too picky when it comes to the cancellation policy that’s 1 or 2 days different than what’s on the reservation booked directly through MARRIOTT.
      • Rates on auction websites, on sites that do not disclose the hotel brand until the reservation is completed (i.e., Priceline and Hotwire), on sites that require a login or specific credit card to view or book, or on sites that don’t provide an immediate confirmation (e.g., an “on request” rate) are not accepted. Pre-paid, advance purchase, or non-refundable rates on Qunar, eLong, Meituan Travel, Ctrip/Trip.com, Ctrip/Trip.com affiliate sites, or Fliggy are not eligible. Any rates on WeChat are not eligible.
      • You must find a qualifying Comparison Rate and submit a completed claim form within 24 hours of booking the reservation through the Marriott reservation channel, and at least 24 hours before the standard check-in time at the applicable Marriott hotel. 
      • Marriott Bonvoy Points are only awarded to Marriott Bonvoy Members. If chosen, Points applicable to the claim will be awarded 7-10 business days after guest checkout on the approved reservation.
      • All approved claim rewards (either points or discounts) will only be available for up to three guest rooms.

      How to Submit Best Rate Guarantee with Marriott

      I love Marriott’s Best Rate Guarantee claim form in a way that it has an option for you to pick whether the claim rate is found on the competitor’s website or the competitor’s mobile app. 
      Before you get all excited to fill out the form, please be advised that if you want the 5,000 Marriott Bonvoy bonus points upon the approval of your Marriott’s BRG claim, you must sign in to your Marriott’s account prior to filling out the form. Otherwise, that option at the end of the form is disabled. If you sign in to your Marriott account after filling out everything, all the information that you completed on the form will be cleared and you will be required to fill out the form all over again. This is just an FYI. 
      Therefore, use the SIGN IN button on the claim form and sign in to your Marriott account first before filling out the form. Your Marriott account’s information will be automatically filled in the form and the 5,000 bonus points option at the end of the form will be enabled for you to select.

      Radisson

      Radisson does offer the Best Online Rates Guarantee (BORG). While the Radisson program has spitted into two programs: Radisson Hotels Americas and Radisson Hotels Non-Americas, each program offers the Best Online Rate Guarantee and has the same terms and conditions. 
      If your claim is approved:
      • Radisson will match the lowest rate and give you an additional 25% discount on your stay. 

      Radisson Best Online Rate Guarantee Terms Excerpt:

      The following terms and conditions apply to both Radisson Hotels Americas and Radisson Hotels Non-Americas:
      • The Comparison Rate must be found on a website available to be booked by the general public other than Radissonhotels.com within 24 hours of booking your hotel room on Radissonhotels.com and at least 48 hours prior to midnight hotel local time of your arrival date. 
      • The Comparison Rate must be for the same hotel, same reservation date(s), same room type (i.e. room size and amenities), the same number of guests, same currency as the Radissonhotels.com confirmation email, and the same advance payment and refund policies and restrictions including same cancellation policy must apply. 
      • The Comparison Rate must still be available at the time Customer Care validates the claim.
      • For prepaid bookings, the difference will be refunded on the applicable credit card by the hotel. You may only submit one claim for each stay.

      How to Submit Best Online Rate Guarantee with Radisson

      UPDATE: FYI I was having an issue that I could not submit the Radisson BRG form online using Chrome browser. After a few attempts, I finally got the form to submit but I had no idea how it happened. One thing that I did was to fill out each field including the optional field on the form and re-submit. 
      Radisson has spitted into two programs, so make sure you are using the right claim form based on the site that you book your reservation:
      If your reservation is booked through Radissonhotels.com:
      • Within 24 hours of making your reservation on Radissonhotels.com
      • Scroll down to the bottom and click on Contact under HELP.
      • Select “Online” under the Contact method drop-down list. 
      • Select “Best Online Rates Guarantee (BORG) claim” from the Topic drop-down list. 
      If your reservation is booked through Radissonhotelsamericas.com:
      • Within 24 hours of making your reservation on Radissonhotelsamericas.com
      • Scroll down to the bottom and click on Contact us under HELP.
      • Select “Online” under the Contact method drop-down list. 
      • Select “Best Online Rates Guarantee (BORG) claim” from the Topic drop-down list.

      Wyndham

      Just like other hotel programs, Wyndham also offers the Best Rate Guarantee (BRG)
      If your claim is approved by Wyndham:
      • Wyndham will match the lower rate and give you 3,000 Wyndham Rewards bonus points after you complete your stay.

      Wyndham Best Rate Guarantee Terms Excerpt:

      • The lower rate must be at least $1.00 lower (not including any taxes or fees)
      • Must complete and submit the online claim form no later than (a) 24 hours after booking your room via one (1) of the methods described above, and (b) 48 hours prior to the hotel’s check-in time
      • Publicly viewable and bookable when your claim is processed and 
      • Must be for the same hotel, dates, room type, and the number of guests as your original booking.
      • Guarantee applies only to reservations made on the Wyndham website or central reservation number for Wyndham hotels in the United States, Canada, and EMEA. For the purpose of the Guarantee reservations made for PR do not qualify. The rates available under these terms and conditions cannot be combined with any other special or promotional offers or discounts.
      • Only one claim can be submitted per person, per email address per calendar month; any claims submitted in excess of this limit will be deemed void and not considered.

      Websites To Find Hotel’s Cheaper Or Lower Rate For Best Price Guarantee

      There are several websites out there that offer hotel price comparisons. For the purpose of a hotel price comparison site to use for your Best Price Guarantee (BRG), you could use any websites out there to conduct your search. You just need to make sure your claim meets the BRG’s criteria set by the hotel’s program. 
      It’s worth noting that, some hotel booking sites out there do offer discounts if you book through their mobile site version or mobile app. Therefore, it is important when you do your search for lower price hotel, you should browse your hotel’s price comparison site on both computer’s desktop and mobile platforms. 
      Below are my favorite hotel’s price comparison websites I use to find hotel’s lower rates for Best Price Guarantee with the above-mentioned hotel’s programs. 
      One key component to successfully get your BRG claim approved is to make sure that the competing rate is publicly viewable by anyone without logging in. My favorite way of doing that is once I know which hotel’s booking site offers a lower rate, I simply launch a web browser using Private or Incognito mode and go to that booking site directly. This way I can make sure that I am not clicking the booking link through other sites and I am not logged in to any sites, so the competing site’s lower rate should be viewable by anyone.
