Hyatt Centric French Quarter in New Orleans is a Category 4 Hyatt property, which means that you can use your Hyatt Category 1-4 Free Night Award for redemption.
My Hyatt Globalist status got us upgraded to their standard suite room type which is "Petite Suite" The stay was nice and everything but the view. There’s also an interesting find about complimentary breakfast credit for Globalist as well which I’ll detail out below throughout this review.

Mobile Check-In & Welcome Amenity Bag
I would like to talk about mobile check-in a little bit. I really like Hyatt's mobile check-in because you can tell right away whether the room has been upgraded or not prior to performing mobile check-in as shown below.
Mobile Check-In |
Checking in through mobile phone is a way to bypass the front desk and obtain a mobile key for the room. I did mobile check-in but I still had to go through the agent at the property's front desk because she wanted to speak to me and gave me a welcome bag which consists of bottle water, a bag of NOLA potato chips and a welcome hand-written note card. Also, it was not quite easy to get the mobile key working for the room, so we ended up obtaining the physical room key from the front desk as well.
Petite Suite Upgrade
Hyatt Centric French Quarter has the Petite Suite as a room type for a "standard suite." As Globalist, our room was complimentary upgraded to that suite from the lowest standard king room that we booked. I did attempt to see if we could get upgraded to the 1 bedroom suite that comes with a balcony overlooking the famous Bourbon Street but the property would not offer that despite there were not a lot of guests staying at the time. We were offered whether the king room with Bourbon Street balcony or the Petite Suite for a free standard suite upgrade. We decided to go with the Petite Suite.
The Petite Suite is a good size room. The layout is more of a studio rather than a bedroom suite. After entering the room, you’ll see the bed and the living area all in one place. See a recording video below about the layout of the suite.

The suite is very spacious though and we were really glad to pick the suite over the balcony king room. The only downside of the suite that we did not like was the windows are strangely built in the room. You have these small and tall windows that hardly offer any good views to enjoy. I’m not sure why they decided to design the windows in those suites that way. Some suites offer courtyard or pool view, and we got the one with Bourbon Street view. But it’s really hard to enjoy the view when the windows are small and tall from the ground like that. See the photo below.
Overall, I think the Petite Suite offers spacious room and are nice, but don’t expect any nice views from the room. It’s also important to know that, the close proximity of the Petite Suite to the Bourbon Street can be noisy. I’d recommend you request a suite that’s facing the courtyard or pool instead.
Complimentary Breakfast
As Globalist, we were also offered complimentary breakfast at the onsite Powdered Sugar restaurant. It’s not a buffet style breakfast. It’s a la cart type of breakfast that you order from the counter before sitting down at the table.
The property gave us $15 breakfast credit per person, up to 2 adults in the room. But here’s where things turned out interesting. Every morning, we tried to stay around $30 or a little over $30 including tips when we ordered breakfast and coffee every morning. We always had the order charged to the room due to the breakfast credit. Upon checking out, we were only charged for the room and the front desk agent told me that all breakfast expenses were fully compensated, meaning we did not even have to pay for any differences after our daily allowed $30 breakfast credit. So that was kind of nice and we just wish we knew that so we did not have to be mindful on what we ordered! 😁

We were also offered a choice of red wine, white wine or 1,000 Hyatt points. We chose the Chardonnay White Wine.
