What Are IHG Luxury Collection & Lifestyle Collection Programs and What Benefits Come With Each Program?

The other day I stumbled on a fairly new Hyatt Privé program that offers better perks when you book a cash reservation for a
participating luxury Hyatt property using a qualified Hyatt Privé travel
advisor. It appears that IHG also launched its own similar programs called
IHG Luxury Collection and IHG Lifestyle Collection that are comprised of a collection of IHG’s luxury hotels and resorts in the
world. These two programs have different participating IHG hotel brands. Let’s take a closer look at both programs to see if
they are worth it.

The IHG Luxury Collection and
IHG Lifestyle Collection are programs designed for qualified
travel agencies who specialize in luxury and lifestyle travel experiences to
provide recommendations and make reservations for their clients at
participating IHG luxury hotels and resorts. Both programs allow qualified
travel agents to offer bookings that come with several benefits such as daily
complimentary breakfast, room upgrade, guaranteed late check-out and more that
you typically cannot get if you were to book directly with IHG without paying
extra for those perks. Therefore, you must book this IHG Luxury Collection and
IHG Lifestyle Collection rate with an approved travel agent. Both of these IHG
luxury programs are very much the same as
Hyatt Privé.

IHG Lifestyle Collection Hotel Brands

IHG Luxury Collection guests will receive the following special benefits:

• $100 hotel credits.
• Complimentary Daily Breakfast for two.
• Upgrade to next room category (subject to availability on arrival).
• Bottled water, fresh fruit, and snacks in room upon arrival.
• Guaranteed late check-out until 2PM.
• Turn down service as appropriate by brand.
• Handwritten, personalized welcome card.
• No walk policy.
• Priority wait list.
• Free unlimited Wi-Fi. 

• $50 hotel credits.
• Upgrade to next room category (subject to availability on arrival).
• Bottled water, fresh fruit, and snacks in room upon arrival.
• Late check-out until 2PM, subject to availability. 
• Turn down service as appropriate by brand.
• Handwritten, personalized welcome card.
• No walk policy.
• Priority wait list.
• Free unlimited Wi-Fi. 

IHG recently made a positive update that both programs no longer have minimum
stay required. So you will get all above mentioned benefits even for a 1-night
stay at each program’s worldwide participating IHG hotels and resorts. 

The good news is when you use a travel agent to book a participating IHG
Luxury & Lifestyle Collection’s hotel, the rate is the same as the
Best Flexible Rate that you find on IHG’s booking website. However,
this means that it is not possible to book IHG Rewards Club member rate,
pre-paid non-refundable rate, AAA rate, corporate rate, any discount rate, or
rewards night stay including points + cash rate. Any other programs such as
the Citi Prestige fourth night free benefit also cannot be used in conjunction
with IHG Luxury Collection or IHG Lifestyle Collection’s rate. 

IHG tends to offer non-refundable rate for IHG Rewards Club members at a good
discounted rate, so the Best Flexible Rate tends to be more expensive,
but when you can receive $50-$100 hotel credits to spend during your stay and
room upgrade along with the late check-out, these benefits can
really maximize the best flexible rate when you use IHG Luxury Collection and
IHG Lifestyle Collection travel agency service.

Yes. It is not any difference from when you book travels with a travel agency.
They receive booking commissions from IHG for helping you out to book a
successful IHG reservation, but you pay nothing else other than the total cost
of the Best Flexible Rate per night and taxes. 

Yes. Each IHG Luxury Collection and IHG Lifestyle Collection’s rate is
considered an eligible rate to earn IHG Rewards Club points and elite night
stay credits. It does not matter what your elite status with IHG is to receive
all those IHG Luxury and Lifestyle benefits, but if you have elite status with
IHG your status will be recognized as well during your stay. Everything is
pretty much the same in terms of earning IHG points, night credits and elite
status if you were to book directly with IHG. 

As it has been discussed up to this point, IHG Luxury Collection and IHG
Lifestyle Collection programs are only available to a qualified and IHG
approved travel agency. You cannot book IHG Luxury or Lifestyle rate on your
own with IHG. You cannot view any special promotions that involve IHG Luxury
or IHG Lifestyle rate without reaching out to that travel agent. Everything
must go through the travel agent which includes any changes and cancellations
made to the reservation. 

If you already have a travel agent in mind or know a travel agent, you can
check with him/her to see if their travel agency participates in the IHG
Luxury Collection and IHG Lifestyle Collection programs. Otherwise, here’s one
travel agency that I have no affiliation with. I found it from searching

I have to admit, all my
luxury flying
and
hotel stays
are mostly done by the help of miles and points. I hardly used cash to pay for
those luxury experiences. It is true that I perform most of my travel bookings
by myself, but IHG Luxury and Lifestyle reservations offer so much valuable
benefits such as hotel credits, room upgrade, free daily breakfast for two,
guaranteed late check-out, etc. regardless of one’s elite status with IHG
program. Furthermore, IHG Luxury and Lifestyle rate is an eligible rate that
also earns IHG points and elite night credits, plus it is the same Best
Flexible Rate that appears on IHG website which offers flexible cancellation
policy. With all that being said, I can’t really see why I would not move all
my IHG cash reservations for a participating IHG luxury property to have a
qualified IHG Luxury and Lifestyle travel agent books it for me instead
