This United Credit Card is issued by the First Hawaiian Bank and not by Chase bank. If you are eligible to apply for this card, this is a good option not having to deal with Chase 5/24 application rule and the card's benefits are pretty much similar to Chase issued United Explorer Card. The big downside of First Hawaiian Bank issued United credit card is that you must have an address in Hawaii, Guam and Northern Mariana Islands in order to apply for the card.

    Two Cents

As you can see, the benefits of the First Hawaiian Bank issued United Credit Card is very much the same as Chase issued United Explorer Card. While the application with First Hawaiian Bank is very limited to only Hawaii, Guam and Northern Mariana Islands residents, it is great to see that United is doing its part to offer travelers with a credit card that is issued by a different bank. I am hoping that they will open to more states down the road. If you are eligible to apply and you are tired of waiting around to qualify for Chase 5/24 rule or you have been shut down by Chase bank, this is a good alternative option to get a United credit card. Having United credit card will allow you to bring on carry-on, check first and second bags free of charge for you and your travel companions even if you book United basic economy fare. For points travelers, being able to access the award seats inventory more than the general members is a great perk.

As always, if you are eligible to apply, you may consider getting First Hawaiian Bank issued United Credit Card only if you are a responsible credit card consumer that pays off the balance on the card each month. You can set up auto-pay to pay off your card's balance each month to avoid late payment and hefty interest.
