SAS Lounge Review at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) For Emirates Business and First Class Passengers

Located in Terminal B near Gate 60 after security, SAS Lounge allows passengers that hold premium class ticket such as Business or First class with Air China, Emirates and SAS airlines to enter. I was traveling on Emirates First Class from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Athens, Greece. So I had the opportunity to experience the lounge.

In my honest opinion, this lounge fails miserably in terms of food. I read somewhere that the lounge can also get crowded, but fortunately when I was there, there were plenty of seats available. So for relaxation, the lounge gets the job done, but there's more. Here's a review:

Getting In

Holders of premium class tickets with Air China, Emirates and SAS airlines can access the SAS lounge. Star Alliance elites can also access the lounge. The SAS lounge is in Terminal B near Gate 60 after the security.

Food & Drinks

I was flying First Class with Emirates. After getting my boarding pass scanned at the entry, I went in to find myself a comfortable seat and went to check out the food and drinks section. It was evening so they were serving dinner. I was truly disappointed to find out that they did not have many food selections. They have two hot items: Lasagna and tomato soup. The rest is salad and cold items such as roast beef, cheese, etc. I appreciate that at least they serve hot items at the lounge, but the lasagna does not look appetizing. In my personal opinion, SAS lounge for premium class ticket holders is pretty disappointing. Drinks selections, on the other hand, are great.

Lounge Seats

First of all, the design of SAS lounge is very pretty. I really like the way the seats in the lounge are set up. However, when it comes down to the comfort, I find that if you want to use computer to do some work, the chairs at the sit up tables are not that comfortable. The seats are metal and there's no backrest. Otherwise, if the lounge is not crowded, you can relax well in one of those cushion chairs/sofa.

Conclusion

I appreciate there's a lounge access at Newark Liberty Intentional Airport (EWR) for Business and First Class passengers, but SAS lounge is no way considered a premium lounge to qualify it for a First Class passenger's lounge . It serves its purpose if you want to just relax to wait for your flights, but if you desire more than just the seats, there are a lot of rooms to improve for SAS lounge. Moreover, if you wait to eat at the lounge, you will be disappointed as there are not many hot food items but a lot of cold items.
