Millenium Hotels and Resorts have over 90 properties in Asia, China, Taiwan, Europe, the Middle East, New Zealand and North America. This hotel chain is not widely mentioned in the points and miles community. Recently, I found out that you can status match from U.S. hotel chains such as IHG, Hilton, Hyatt, etc. to Millennium Hotels rewards program. That made me look into their rewards program and come up with this write up review.

My Millennium Rewards Program
The rewards program under Millennium Hotels and Resorts is called My Millennium. It is completely free to join the program and you earn points (My Points) for every qualifying hotel stay and additional qualified spend such as food and drinks. The points you earn depends on your membership tier and there are 3 membership tiers: Club, Premium, and Elite. Both Premium and Elite membership are valid for 12 months upon being upgraded or renewed.

Membership Tiers & My Points Earning
As I mentioned, it is possible to status match from other hotel chains rewards programs such as IHG, Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott, etc to My Millennium, and that will give you more privileges with My Millenium rewards program such as Club Room upgrades for Premium membership and Suite Room upgrades for Elite membership. See below for all the benefits:

Must Book Direct?
Unlike other rewards program, the one single cool thing about My Millenium Rewards Program is that it allows you to still get all the above mentioned benefits based on your membership level even though you do not book directly with Millenium Hotels and Resorts. This allows opportunities to triple dip with using cash back portal to make booking on third-party travel sites such as Orbitz earning Orbucks, Hotels.com earning free night after 10 stays, etc. The only downside is you don’t earn Millennium points. Unless you are a fan of Millennium Hotels and Resorts, this program is unlikely a go-to program for you to accrue points based on stays anyways.

How Complimentary Club/Suite Room Upgrades Work?
Complimentary Club/Suite Room upgrades is subject to hotel’s availability on the day of check-in, member to indicate use complimentary Club/Suite Room upgrade when making a reservation on millenniumhotels.com. Complimentary Club/Suite Room upgrade is applicable to maximum 3 nights stay per voucher booked by member.

How Complimentary Club/Executive Lounge Access Work for Elite Tier Members?
Elite members enjoy complimentary Club/Executive Lounge Access with 1 additional guest.

Frequent Flyer Programs
This program is unlikely a key program for U.S. points enthuisasts provided that Millennium properties are not really that extensive across North America. But for occasional travelers that can obtain higher tier that results from the status match, this can be a great way to take advantage of all the room upgrades, etc. for a comfortable stay in Asia and Europe, especially UK. Moreover, you have the option to either earn their My Points or credit the stay towards your preferred airlines programs. Currently, there are over 15 participating airlines such as American Airlines, Delta, United, Singapore Airlines, Japan Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, to name a few. More participating airlines
Points Redemption
Unlike traditional hotel points programs out there, Millennium points redemption is based on the cost of the room per night. In other words, the points required for a free stay vary based on the room’s rate. You must join the program then do a search. On the result’s page, you can check the box that says View Prices in Points. Your account does not have to have points in order to do the search and view prices in points. One nice feature that Millennium Hotels & Resorts website has is the flexibility calendar that you can see which night that has the cheapest rate or lowest points required for a free night stay. From a few examples I did, it looks like the value of Millennium points worth at least 2 cents a piece.
