Reader’s Question: I applied for the Chase World of Hyatt Credit Card and got instant approval. I have some upcoming Hyatt stays that can benefit from all the perks with the card, such as 9x points per dollar spent at worldwide Hyatt properties, the Discoverist status, and more. However, I am unsure when Hyatt will recognize me as the Discoverist.

Hyatt Discoverist elite status requires ten (10) elite qualifying nights stay or earn 25,000 World of Hyatt points per year. However, you can skip the requirements when approved for the Chase World of Hyatt Credit Card or Chase World of Hyatt Business Credit Card. Alternatively, you can skip the requirements if you receive the Hyatt Discoverist status gifted by a cardholder of the Chase World of Hyatt Business Credit Card.

- Earn five (5) base points per eligible $1 spent + a 10% bonus on eligible purchases at worldwide Hyatt Hotels & Resorts.
- Resort fees are waived on Free Night Awards.

How Quickly Do You Get Discoverist Status After Hyatt Credit Card Approval?
Based on my previous experience, I applied for the Chase World of Hyatt Credit Card and got approved on July 10th. Exactly nine days after the credit card’s approval date, I received an email from Hyatt congratulating me on becoming a World of Hyatt Discoverist:
“Congratulations on becoming a World of Hyatt Discoverist. In World of Hyatt, exceptional service comes standard and unforgettable experiences are always at your fingertips.
You’ll enjoy exclusive benefits and earn valuable rewards as you travel the world. The program revolves around you and is yours to continue exploring.”

There you have it! It is nice that Hyatt recognizes members who got approved for the credit card and quickly upgrades them to Discoverist status. My Hyatt credit card had not even arrived when I received that email from Hyatt.
How Long Does Hyatt Discoverist Last?
Your Hyatt Discoverist status is automatically renewed each year if you remain the cardholder of the Chase World of Hyatt Credit Card or Chase World of Hyatt Business Credit Card. However, should you decide to close the card after earning the Discoverist status, that status is good for the rest of the calendar year you’ve earned it, plus the following year and an additional two months after that. For example, you earned Hyatt Discoverist status in 2023. In that case, the status level will be valid until the end of February 2025.
