One of the benefits that new Chase IHG credit cards Chase IHG Rewards Club Traveler Credit Card ($29 annual fee) or the Chase IHG Rewards Club Premier Credit Card ($89 annual fee) offer for consumers is the 4th Reward Night Free. When you redeem IHG points for any stay of 4 or more nights, you get the 4th night free. This benefit, however, does not apply to points and cash bookings. Some rewards programs out there such as Hilton and Marriott only allow 1 night free if you redeem points for any stay of 5 consecutive nights, the 5th night is free or zero point.

IHG PointsBreak is a special promotion that runs every 3 months for IHG Rewards Club Members. Members can redeem points for a free night stay for 5,000, 10,000 and 15,000 points per night depending on the participating IHG properties during the promotional period.
As good as the 4th Rewards Night Free benefit sounds, it got me to think whether or not I can really stack this benefit with IHG points promotions, especially the PointsBreak promotion? According to the IHG representative on Facebook:
“The book 4 nights for the price of 3 applies as well for PointsBreak. Make sure that you have enough points to cover the nights.”
So for example, if you are able to score a participating PointsBreak IHG hotel for 5,000 points per night, your 4 night stays will be only 15,000 points or 3,750 points per night. I value IHG point 5 cents a piece, so 3,750 points is equivalent to only $18.75 per night. That’s a steal! The only downside I see is that participating PointsBreak IHG hotels these days are not as good as it used to be and some properties require 10,000 points per night and even 15,000 points per night. Moreover, the 4th reward night free benefit can only be had if you are the card member of one of the new Chase IHG credit cards.
Here are my points valuation based on the 4th reward night free:
- 5,000 IHG points/night: 3,750 points per night or $18.75 per night.
- 10,000 IHG points/night: 7,500 points per night or $37.50 per night.
- 15,000 IHG points/night: 11,250 points per night or $56.25 per night.
